Retronaut > Converting PC 3.5" floppy Drives to work on the Amiga
[ Show youtube player ]
Do you need a new Amiga floppy disc drive? Well, there are NO new Amiga drives out there, but there are many many PC drives. However, these do not work on the Amiga. In this video I show you how I converted 3 common models of PC drive...
Two of these drives were needed to get my two external Amiga floppy drives back on their feet. If you need to replace an Amiga drive, follow along and learn how to do it. Its (relatively) easy! |

The Sony (Jobe.fi) is easy to convert, as well. For console Amigas (A500/600/1200), a 3D printed button is needed to match up with the hole with the eject button, and with the external drives, the PCB board may match only one particular drive, unless you wire connections to fit the updated floppy.
There are a few PCBs that will allow use of a PC HD drive as an Amiga HD one, but even when I used my A4000s HD drive, rarely did I find a need for it -- I moved it to my A4000T, as unique deserves unique. |
