Indivision AGA 1200 + Elbox PC-Key fix!

Ok, so the Elbox PC-Key keyboard adaptor & Indivision AGA 1200 scandoubler are incompatible when used on the same motherboard right?

Wrong, here is a super-simple mod here to overcome the issue.

The problem is that a section of the PC-Key adaptor fouls on the AGA 1200...this part of the PC-Key is populated by a capacitor. The Solution? Just move the cap & then you can trim the PC-Key to fit!

Fouling:

Front before:

Rear before:

Front view afterwards, showing relocated capacitor soldered to IC legs:

Rear view afterwards, showing cut traces & trimmed PCB to clear AGA 1200:

Fits great now:

Couldn't have been me...I just did it an hour ago!

Good to hear that others have sorted it out though

Can you furnish us with a linky to the other guy's thread please?

PZ.

*EDIT* - Do you mean this?

Yuck! I'll bet the capacitor is "gently encouraging" the Indi to come loose...it MUST be touching/pressing if my unit was anything to go by!

Cheers TC, now give us that feedback on the converter..not all our machines are 1200s!

Seriously though, if you look at my final pic & that other guy's one, without relocating the cap there is obviously no way his PC-Key can be fully seated. I'd suggest to anyone with the PC-Key that this is so easy to do it my way, just do it...if a component falls out & hits ground when live, you are looking at being screwed!

You dont need to move the cap. Just trim it carefully!

Edit, the PC Key is fully seated and there is no pressure on the Indy from the capacitor.... Whadya think I am st00oopid?
However that said, nice job FingerLickin!

Haha, so that's you dude?

No way, for real? Maybe our PC-Key boards are different...look at mine, there is no way in hell it could fit with the cap in it's standard position...look how close it is after going past the tracks!

Ours must be different if yours fits properly like that. Maybe we should compare dimensions?
