WHAT A TUNE!
you're not making any real sense as the music is by Bomb the Bass, not Bitmap Bros, you're actually a Bomb the Bass fan, not a "Bitmap Bros whore" as bitmap Bros don't usually have music anything like this on their other games

this is the original Bomb the Bass tune here that was sampled for the game: [ Show youtube player ]

(Bitmap Bros got the subtitle of the game from the name of the song)

Not yet. I have a whole batch of disks I wish to dump with KryoFlux. I just don't have it set up at the moment, but it won't be long now.

More than 6 months ago, blimey... I've lost track of time I'm afraid, but now the summer is here again (at least in Bristol :P) a not-so-young man's thoughts turn to the Amiga; did you get anywhere with the Xenon 2 disc in the end?

No, I don't have cause to use my KryoFlux very often, and I must admit to having forgotten about this.

But don't worry, I still have your pack of disks to hand, and I will get going on them and return them to you at the first opportunity.

Kinda off-topic...

when i sent my knackered disks off, they sent my 2 2 disk copies... My mate then swapped a boxed copy of Gods (which hadn't been out for long), for my boxed copy of Xenon II and I kept the spares.. I think he just liked the artwork

What I was referring to was, as a Bitmap Bros fan, I wanted the complete version of the song/intro featured in the original game.

I'm well aware the tune is by Bomb the Bass...

From April to August now, do we have any movement on the Xenon disc I sent? Fingers crossed it can be salvaged and is what Dastardly was looking for!

Hi Titler,

I am sorry that it has been such a long time with no progress on the disks you sent. The main reason why I have made no progress on any of the long-standing disk recovery projects I have undertaken is that the primary hard drive in my emulation workstation failed in May, taking the most up-to-date data with it. So far, I have not succeeded in bringing it back to life and now I think it's extremely unlikely that I ever will.

The floppy disks themselves are quite safe, along with my notes on the progress I had made up to that point, but the latest binary files are all gone and I have just been so busy with other things that I haven't yet had an opportunity to restore the last backups and pick it up again from there.

I'll have better news soon, I hope...

Is there any proper Aga fixed version of Xenon II ..?!
I tried the disk 1 cracked by Black Monks, on my A4000D 060..
That version was recommended here on EAB recently.
(couldn't find the thread; sorry. Moderators, please move this post, if necessary)
When the game starts, it quits to the title / selection screen after a few seconds.. (??)

hi macce2
i have reached to replicate your issue with winuae, quite bizarre issue
have you tried to not touch/shoot/collect any powerup?
seems the game does not reset to the main menu in this way?!
ok crappy way to play xenon2

btw, the game seems working with an A1200 configuration, so i presume the issue could be 680x0 related?

there is an AGA fix in the Tosec [cr VF], but it also seems working on A1200 and not on A4000 (it crash loading the level)

it's a 1989 game afterall

Tick 24bit in cpu and that will likely fix it.

If I remember rightly, Xenon 2 assumes only a 68000 will be used and sets bits in the high word of registers.

68000 accesses 24bit whereas 68020 accesses 32bit, so the 68020 is interpreting those set bits as a valid memory address whereas 68000 ignores them.

24 bit issue confirmed. On 32 bit processors it crashes as soon as you take a bonus.

For the record there are 6 different original versions of Xenon 2. Most are 2 disk, some are 1 disk. Plus CDTV. Of course all versions have this 24 bit bug.

just gameplay talking, the only slight different version (apart the cdtv one) is the [cr Black Monks] untrained 2-disks one

ie the first level has less enemies, and it's not splitted in two halfs, so also without the shop in that part

wondering if it's based on a early release, or if it's an hack
i like it a bit more than the other adf versions
