Eye Candy games, but no playability
The Amiga has surely eye candy games, with gorgeous graphics, beautiful music, nice atmosphere, good intro...but they also have nearly unusuable controls or poor level design, boring enemy waves etc.
The obvious ones: Shadow of the Beast Unreal Sword of Sodan Microcosm Agony more? |

"The Godfather".
Great graphics but nearly unplayable. Only the shooting levels are playable. |

Wrath of the Demon. Insanely beautiful for an Amiga game (IMO), but yeah. SOTB gameplay.

Maybe I spent too much time playing Unreal, but I remember it was playable - for me at least.

The winner surely has to be Rise of the Robots!
Its the ultimate 'all graphics, no gameplay' example. Second for me would be the shockingly bad Microcosm. |

Rise of the Robots = not even technical impressive, 100% crap.
Agony = turn on auto-fire, then do NOTHING. Extremely boring shooter, clearly no challenge for shmups fans with average skills. Unreal = awful controls in boring 2D Levels, ugly 3D levels with a simple "avoid the obstackles" concept. *Yawn* Though, nice graphics and sound. Project X and Xenon 2 are not really bad, but highly overrated. |

I personally find Xenon 2 too slow for a shmup, and Project X seems to lack the tight level design that a shooter really needs. Same with Agony really.
All of them looked great, but for me the gameplay and level design was too dull and repetitive to grab my attention. Banshee and Disposable Hero were the shmups that rocked my world. |

Nerd-Retro, Agony is cool. It was a challenge on Gamesmaster once!
