Action Replay Iii Cartridge & Training Games

I've been thinking to buy a Action Replay device to my A500 to train games.

Simple question:

Let's take an untrained game like APANO SIN - Is it possible to train, say unlimited lives or energy with this device? How hard it is, can amateur even think to use it in a such way?

I know those hexadecimal lists with different values to modify. So lets's think I manage to solve this value that effects to energy and I manage to modify it correctly. Will I be enable to save it to the game disk so next time I run the game I will have unlimited energy?

I'm not familiar with these kind of devices at all...

Nothing is impossible. However, back when I cracked Apano Sin I think I also had a (quick) look at creating a trainer and seem to remember that it wasn't that easy. But since that was almost 10 years ago (jesus... time flies!) I may remember wrong. And I didn't use AR3 for that at all so your mileage may vary.

No, you'll have to "train" it every time you want to play. If you want to save the modified game to disk you'd have to find where on disk it is stored and in case of Apano Sin the executable is crunched so without some knowledge of the disk format, decrunchers etc it is pretty much impossible to save a changed binary.

I may create a trainer for Apano Sin when I have some time (yes, I did not forget about the request!) but until then you can try your luck with AR 3 and maybe WinUAE so you can get a feeling how it works.

Well yes, freezing is of course always possible but you can only load the frozen file on A500/1.3 machines AFAIR. It's kinda lame anyway which is why I didn't even mention it.

Thanks a lot for your answer, StingRay!

All started when I saw a cheap AR3. With the information you gave me it doesn't sound too easy at all. Maybe it would be easier to train some simplier game... Well I must wait if I could get a more professional trainer for this hard but technically impressive game.

We shall hope lots of spare time for StingRay!
