Stachu100 did some tests on several Apollo A1260 boards. Maximum stable operation was @80MHz.

Mine ran at 100MHz only without RAM. Much beyond 80 was a no-go, even with 50ns RAM. 80MHz is flawless, no esoteric SIMMs required.

apollo 1260@100mhz

here are the parts needed for this mod
1: cpu mc68060 rev 6
2: crystal oscillator at 100mhz
3: heatsink and fan (486 or 586 is a good idea)
4: atx power supply between 350 and 400 watts

as you can probably see this is acheivable and its a good idea to bypass the regulator on the card altogether as it will put a lot of load on the motherboard

I was trying on 2 Apollo 1260 with MC68060RC50 rev6 cpu's and max was 80MHz. When 100MHz oscillator was inserted I've had just "black screen". 80MHz inserted back and everything was working again. CPU's itself were tested at 106MHz on Blizzard 1260, so for sure it was Apollo fault having "no go" @100MHz.
I suspect that it's depend on particular MACH chip. If you are lucky - your card will work @100MHz. if not (like me) 80MHz is max what you can get.

hi i had the same problem if you can try it with a atx power supply it will get more amps. btw if you try this in a desktop be sure to run a line from the 5 volt line to the regulators 5 volt input or do away with the regulator and run the 3.3 volts line from the atx to the card direct .trust me it will suppries you

what i am trying to say is the card is looking for amps it cant get.
have a go stachu100 and see for yourself what happens

right i have added a picture of the card itself it will probably make sense when you see it.
please note the heat sink and fan and the wires that bypass the regulator have fun.

Hi!

No I didn't get it to work with the Z3i Busboard - I got rid of the Z3i and went Mediator/Voodoo 5 instead

And yeah I still have this beast, sporting Blizzy PPC upgraded to 060 @72mhz and PPC 330mhz

Steve.
