IN PROGRESS: Outpost - The Final Battle

Ok, ok, so there was a demo of this game released as Outpost - Solo Assault.

A quick google search finds the coders website. Time for an email to see what happened to The Final Battle, the full version of the game

There are some screenshots up there that are not in the demo version (IIRC) so here's hoping!

http://www.olazandelin.com/

Seems there are actually a whole load of amiga games listed up there, many I have never heard of. Finger crossed he still has the data!

the demo splash screen says to send cash to get the full version, which should come in two disks, so probably there's a full version! Actually I would pay that money to get it

I see how good his work is and it makes me so depressed that he left the Amiga scene without completing hardly anything he started.

The guy wrote "Marbles" as well which is an excellent Amiga puzzle game - it should be in everyone's top 50 Amiga PD/Shareware games in my opinion.

Good luck with contacting him Heavy Stylus, it would be great to know if Outpost/Solo Assault is still available!

Well, I've since discovered that he runs donutgames as well, and I have in fact spoken with him in the past about one of his online games. I recall it took a looooong time for him to reply.

If this fails, there is always facebook.

With regard to the game, I would say there is a fair chance that it was completed (at least up to a point) as the screen shots he has posted in the softography are not from the demo, and the description is of the final game as well. However, there is also a good chance that he no longer has the data, otherwise why would he have only uploaded the pd demo version? :/

Great looking games. I've always envied prolific "one-man studios" like him who does programming, sound and graphics himself.

Following my recent interview with Ola I asked about the 2 disk version of Outpost and whether he still had the game and if so whether he wanted to charge for the game or make it available for free - below is his answer

"Yes, I got the 2 disk version and wouldn't mind sharing it for free in the public domain.
I'll attach it together with another game I made / found among my ADF files."

I will post again when I have more news and hopefully the disk images - also interested in the other game too!

Disks now received by emial and uploaded to link below
