add midi/MT32 support

A lot of Sierra games have MT32 support (with a few modifications in data files)

HOL doesn't list those games. Any chance to do that?

Maybe other non-sierra games have MT32 support too.

What I have so far for Sierra games (updated with the missing ones from the video):

CastleOfDrBrain
HoyleVolumeIII
KingsQuest5
KingsQuestEnhanced http://hol.abime.net/2585
LeisureSuitLarry5
LeisureSuitLarryEnhanced
PoliceQuest3
QuestForGlory2
SpaceQuest3
SpaceQuest4
SpaceQuestEnhanced
Leisure Suit Larry 3
Conquests of the Longbow
Mixed up mother Goose

Theres a video of 13 Sierra games with support here -

[ Show youtube player ]

As someone in that thread said, Sierra were selling the hardware in the US and were the only company to have a reason to support the device outside the DOS market.

It seems that this video is missing Castle Of Dr Brain

but if I have an old Roland GS midi synth (for instance the JV30), I can't use it to play tunes from my amiga connected with midi?

Nowadays with Munt & winuae it's possible to listen to those games with enhanced audio... well I guess they're even better with ScummVM on native windows, though.

Space Quest 1 Enhanced also works with the MT32. You have to copy the mt32.drv from another Sierra Game and rename the the file "101.pat" to "1.pat".

SQEnhanced is already in my list, yes. On request or when I'm doing some work on a game I'm going to update the install and the slave so no renaming is required. Just tick a box when starting whdload slave to enable MT32 (already done for the Hoyle board game)

On the wiki page, on the Atari ST compatible games it lists;

The Adventures of Maddog Williams in the Dungeons of Duridian
Codename: ICEMAN
The Colonel's Bequest
Conquests of Camelot: The Search for the Grail
Cruise for a Corpse
Operation Stealth

Might be worth a quick look to see if the Amiga versions supports it too.

would surprise me if 2 delphine games did support it. There aren't any .drv or cfg files in the directories.

Those doesn't seem to support mt32 sounds:

Codename Iceman
Colonels Bequest
Conquest of Camelot

Replacing the driver & copying serial.device doesn't work. MT32 doesn't connect at startup at all. So I doubt very much about the others.

All MT32 supported games that I confirmed working with WHDLoad here:
http://grandis.nu/eabsearch/search.p...xclude=&limit=

Btw, excellent work with your new Hoyle 3 slave, MT32 works beautiful with new tool type option.

The grandis list is missing:

Leisure Suit Larry 3
Mixed up mother Goose
and Hoyle 3 too

I'm going to rework some sierra games to add MT32 checkbox (no need to hack) and french/german keyboard too (for games which have a lot of typing). LSL3 has a lot of versions and existing issues for instance. Not sure if I want to update slaves just to add MT32 as a few people would benefit of it on real machines.

Hoyle 3 is there, I didn't tag it MT32 as it use tool type to switch between Paula and MT32.
Not sure about Larry 3 and Mixed up Mother Goose, there don't seem to be a slave for Goose.
I seem to recall I had issues getting Larry 3 to run properly with MT32 way back when.

Ahh, Larry 3 (En-De) v1.000 seem to support it but not v1.039 (SPS 0690)
En-De v1.000 version is unsupported by slave, so no dice.

problem is that I don't have a lot of Larry versions. I already have 2 versions (and the disk names & number of disks is an absolute nightmare in this game). If you can share disk images of unsupported versions, I'll support them. And will add the tooltype for MT32 too.

De-En version with MT32 support zoned, not sure if there's any protection or if it's cracked, no mention of it.
Language can be switched in-game to english, default is german

Btw, why did the developers have to add those stupid questions you have to answer before game starts..

Another question I was asked, who starred in Love Story?
Thank goodness IMDb is around.

there are 2 protections in-game. One at a ticket stand, and one in the locker room. Thanks

very interesting. I'm currently working on the the DE version. v1.027 must have 4 disks and is fully supported. And I have another one which must be v1.039. Is there a way to zone at least the first disks from 027 and 039 so I can identify the ones I have?

Or how to know which version I have?

Don't worry about the disks. I'm just interested in the "prog" file on first disk. If you can package the "prog" files with the version names that will help me identify the versions.

I think I already support 2 versions (4 and 5 disks) and just missing the german version with 5 disks and MT32 support. Currently working on it. Making good progress: the game boots now. "Just" the protection to remove now.

There's a "language=49" in the configuration file. Removing it doesn't change to english. Anyone knows how to force english? that would be a good option since this is the only version that supports MT32 sound (and it also looks newer)

I may release it without the protection removed right now. Also if someone has savegames at the locker & ticket section for this version please send them! I don't want to play the bloody game again (in german!) to reach the protection bits.

i more meant the adf's as the disks itself
Zoned the adf's of Disk 1 different versions, i not see a difference in v1.027 to 1.028

just a wild guess for the language, as 49 is the international phone number for Germany, did you try language=44 or language=1? (44=England, 1=USA)
