Question Footy game

For a couple of weeks a friend of mine is into Amiga emulation. Being a footy- addict he’s desperately looking for a soccer game which name he cannot remember anymore. I have tried to help him but soccer- games are not really my field of expertise.
Here are some vague descriptions: the game only scrolls horizontally and has a radar of the field in the right lower corner of the screen. The game is also published before 1993.

Does anyone have a clue?

Well if the scanner is at the bottom right of the screen you can count out GOAL and Kick Off 2 as the scanner is top left for those games

(Unless you can change where the scanner goes) ??

Smile Maybe it is the game...

It could be the one, Walker. I’ll let him check out the screens tonight.

Lothar Matthaus is post 1993, right? because it looks just like Man Utd. but better. It had the scanner and all.

If it ONLY scrolls horizontally, it can't be Manchester United or Lothar Matthaus, as both game also scrolls vertically. (Heck, Lothar Matthaus even has an overhead view!) .. (just nitpicking)

But I bet it's another game from Audiogenic.. if I only could remember it's name... Emilyn Hughes International Soccer.. or something like that This game has NO VERTICAL SCROLL whatsoever, but it scrolls horizontally. It also plays a lot like Lothar Mathaaus Fuzzball (Or European Champions)

"Lothar Matthäus" and "Emlyn Hughes International Soccer" do not have a scanner in the downright corner, though.

If I am not mistaken, in Lothar Mathaaus (And European Champions.. and Wembley International Soccer.. if you never noticed, those three games are EXACTLY THE SAME!.. oh no in Wembley appears a pic of the refeere when he gives a yellow or red card ) the radar changes the position so he doesn't get in your way.

True, but don't you think the guy would have remembered that? Well, let's wait and see what Tim has to say before we continue digging.

Sometimes it does I got confused because it moves automatically, or you can move it by yourself.

Thumbs up Man United it is! (probably)

Don’t look further. I have mailed the picture of Manchester United to my friend. When he saw the word ‘Manchester’ in the title he was certain this is the game he was looking for.

@ Shatterhand,
Are you sure Manchester United scrolls into multiple directions? My friend is still confident the game is only horizontal scrolling. I have never played the game, though.

As he said he was nitpicking . The gameplay's main scroll is horizontal but the horizontal perspective pans a bit vertically to

Well, there actually is not "the" game.
Krisalis has issued LOTS of Manchester United "modifications" that succeeded "M.U. The Official Computer Game", such as "M.U. - The Double", "M.U. Europe" and others. So to be 100% sure, it will also require you to check through all "modifications".

M.U. the Double has isometric view, so I doubt that's the game

There's also another M.U. game that has overhead view, so it can't be that one too (Forgot the name now)

So, it leaves us with the original M.U. and M.U. europe.

They play nearly the same, but M.U. Europe has better gfx.

Oh yeah, and there's also John Barnes, that's IDENTICAL to M.U. Europe, but faster

Smile Manchester United

I always were (and often still are) confused by all those different Manchester United titles. It is a bit like the Sensible Soccer games which were updated every season. Maybe the reason for this is that footy-games (and sports games in general) aren’t my main area of interest.

Anyway, Manchester United is the game my friend was looking for. He wants you to thank you all for your cooperation.
