Post Tired of being no compatible (amiga OS 5.0)

I bet you all ever wonder why couldn´t amiga os 3.5 be used on machines like amiga 600 , did anybody ever consider making a amiga os friendly with all amigas , being capable of during istalation adapt to the machine?
Like disable colors and memory features for the machine that is being installed.
Is it time to someone do an AMIGA OS 5.0?

OS3.5 and 3.9 can be used on A600, with accellerator and extra mem.
I had OS3.9 running very nicely on my A600 when I had it.

Loading os 3.5, os 3.9 would never happen on a stock a600 or even a1200.
To much had changed and requires more ram.

yes fol i understand but what if an amiga os was capable of choose wich amiga os your machine could able to deal and install it ,it detected if ram or not, if had cd rom ,and should be able to recomend you the installation like:

your os is capable of amiga os 3.5 with ide fix software and mediator software would you like this intallation?

and then we say yes or no

if answer was not then prompted

which amiga os do you whant to install

amiga os1.3
amiga os 2.05
amiga os 3.1

and so on

You already have all of that. Is just a case of installing the appropriate programs.

Why bloat an install more with unnecessary tools?

Humm but did`t wb3.9 evolve from wb1 to be able to use the new hardware that was available, then theres new ways of doing things that usual but not always go with the new stuff.

thing is you are comeing at it from the wrong end perhapse if you when through the software cycle and eveloution you would already own the files to run on lesser systems

Now think on this most of the OS was coded in BCD was it then migrated to C and finaly someone did optimised asm, just a thought don`t really know where I am going with it, its late and oh hell ribbits ribbit ribbit................
oh thats it development stopped ....

Only time I install an os of a disc was when I did my last windows install but only cos I havent the 4gig usb to dedicate to the task all the time

sure what u ask is possible but why, statments and explanations plz

when i mean pinfull is because you have to install 3.1 for then install os 3.5

yes but you can´t denny that amiga is not a ready boot system ,if you have an empty hd you will have to install by floppy and then amiga os bigger than 3.1.
or constant change of floppy on an amiga for install something like amiga os 3.1 , or back to winuae

I dont understand that claim. The natural way to boot the Amiga is from a floppy, and if you had a set of 3.5 or 3.9 install floppies, you could easily install the OS directly. But 3.5 and 3.9 were intended for upgraded systems where it made more sense to use a CD and not a huge bunch of floppy disks.

The Amiga can't boot from a CD due to hardware limitations (the kickstart ROM), and the hardware has not changed since 1992 or so, why would you expect it to? Maybe you should start a project to create a floppy version of 3.9

Do you think you would run Windows 7 on AT 286?

This is why alot of people do their own custom roms.
With all the updated modules.

The only thing my A1200 is missing, is booting from CD. I get round this, by having the CD32 emulator on boot. Check for CD, if found boot CD, if not boot OS.
