Can anybody help with converting .scp to .adf? or checking .scp made with arduino?
So i'm using Arduino to make .ADF files or .SCP files from floppy (original games) seems like i can't seem to make puggsy.scp run on winuae, also can't seem to run Perihelion.scp, so please can some one help me convert the Perihelion .SCP to ADF? or to IPF? also check if this .SCP is without errors (i don't have hardware to do that) Thanks Alot. I will send the file on pm. I would be able to use whdload to install the game this way.

It could be that you are not getting a clean dump - possibly because your disks are dirty and/or damaged.
You can check the ADF / SCP dumps using HxC. Share your ADF/ SCP files and I can take a look for you. I would recommend using Greaseweazle for flux level backup/restore of floppy disks. Most games would have already have an IPF image done of it, and an equivalent WHDLoad version. |

OK, I use HxC on your first SCP dump and compared it to the original IPF image.
Here is the view of the IPF image of disk 1: Here is the view of your SCP dump of disk 1: You can see that there are a lot of errors - it looks like magnetic degradation, rather than dirty/mouldy disks. In this situation I would typically use Greaseweazle to write the IPF image back to the disk (after cleaning it and magnet wiping it); or to a known good donor disk and swap the media. |

No, I didn't mean 'format' them.
I meant that I would clean them to make sure they are physically clean. Then do another dump to check whether that has improved. If not, and if I have a IPF original that is known to be working when writing to a test floppy disk, then I would use a strong neodymium magnet to wipe the disk then write the IPF image to it, read it back as SCP and check again whether that is OK. If still not OK, then I would do a media swap from a known good disk that has had the IPF image written to it. But only attempt these actions at your own risk, on disks that there is a known good image of that can be written back to disk and works. What is the Arduino solution you are using to dump the disks. Have you tried dump known good disks - i.e. ones that work on a real Amiga? |

It might be your Arduino dump setup. I've just seen on the Discord channel for Rob Smiths solution another user with a dump very similar to this.

Yep, i dumped alot of games to adf - Beneath a Steel Sky, Blastar, Chuck Rock II, Flood, Puggsy, Putty, Simon The Sorcerer, Skeleton Krew, Timekeepers, UFO: Enemy Unknown, they all work (completed few of them, to be precise - Blastar, Simon The Sorcerer, Skeleton Krew), Arduino works on PC via usb, but when making .ADF from Perihelion it gives me only errors so i made .SCP and it must be magnetic degradation like you said.

You can only dump AmigDOS disks to ADF. If it is non AmigaDOS then SCP should be used.
Which Arduino solution is it? Is it Rob Smiths one? Please link to the solution so that it is clear what you are using. |

So it is Rob Smith's solution.
I would suggest you join the Discord channel and get direct support for it. |

Yeah, I'm on it, yeah i see the other user having similar problem. Maybe .SCP dump doesn't work correctly?? also i think Perihelion isn't AmigDOS, not sure about it.

just one detail : the dump indicates the drive is running at 307RPM. the value for 3.5" drive should be 300RPM.

2 drops of 70% alcohol on the disk surface, then you use a floppy cleaner, your turn in order to spread the drops on the surface, it will clean average mould. However, for specific big mould spots, a coton ear bud is need, soaked in alcohol, then go on the mould, wet it, and gradually try to clean with the coton ear bud dry side. Stop when the mould spot is completely removed (there must not be a remain of it, if there is still a bit, the mould is still there. Last edited by dlfrsilver; 30 July 2021 at 21:54. |
