Mortal Kombat II - strategy
I always struggled getting past the third round of MKII.
I figured out that if you somersault backwards to your left corner and keep spamming backwards somersault kicks you will beat most opponents. It's like you trap them in the corner. |

I seem to recall such a trick-yes. MK was never as deep as SF2 or as strategic.

The jump kick was known in most versions of MK2 including the arcade, until they updated it.
Usually as fights get harder. the jump kick doesnt work all the time... |

jump kick works well if you time it properly apparently. So I'm told, and I witnessed it in the arcades, but was never able to master it.
MK (arcade) was much easier in that aspect |

grrh I remember this game. When I used to jump up Liu Kang use to do a air fire ball and when I go to uppercut, they would duck then uppercut me. I used the jump kick, and also the "zedweb" cheat.

Or you could duck, wait for opponent to walk near. Then jump back. The opponent will jump toward you, as he does this jump back towards opponent and kick.
Works all the time.. you kick him in mid air |

Well, first of all, don't hesitate to play on very easy.
There's no shame in that - because, the game was programmed in a way, that it automatically increases difficulty, as you progress. Near the end, it's basically hard difficulty... For gameplay advice, I think it's most important that you combine various moves. If you manage to land uppercut twice in a row, don't try third time, but rather try something else (high kick, for example). Then, computer can be pretty confused when using teleport, so you can use Scorpion or Raiden, or Kung Lao for that. There is a complete AI logic on youtube, if you really wanna master it... you will learn how to "force" AI to do some move, then you can react to it. Most popular is: If you go backwards, then jump backwards, in most cases AI will also jump (forward), and then you can land him some magic.. or something... Hope this helps |
