Turrican 3 - golden armor

I always had this question but I always keep forgetting to post it.
What is the Turrican 3 golden armor for? I don't notice any change when using it, it is rather odd.

Anybody has a clue?

Wow I didn't notice that. Does this work only on that level? Becaue I don't usually die that much

IIRC it lasts until the end of the game.

I can't believe I didn't notice this substantial difference!
I wonder why the Megadrive version doesn't have it, though, since it's a much harder game than the Amiga one.

Necro Bump!

In fact there is a second golden armor hidden in the game.

The first is in 1-2:

The second in 2-1:

Collect the first armor to keep your weapons when you die.
Collect both to get super jump!

How the hell you discovered that 1-2 armor, Schlauchi? It is almost not possible to find it randomly, did you dissassemble the game or what? I see the other armor in 2-1 was also reported by you to Nemmelheim.

I worked on the Turrican Anthology Collection and created all the maps for the map-feature and some other stuff.
When the T3 maps were dumped with Codemappers tool, I noticed that all the "walk-through" walls had random other tiles displayed as it didnt know what to render there. In 1-2 there was some broken tiles on the left wall in that area you see in the GIF. At first I thought that was a mistake, but lo and behold, it wasnt

The second armor I found already all the way back in 1993 after I had bought the game. That one wasnt hidden that hard!

That is unlikely, someone on the Turrican Discord checked the T3 source and didnt really find anything beside this.

Amiga Turrican 3 is a port of Mega Turrican, so those golden armors were added by Peter Thierolf as a tribute to Super Ghouls n Ghosts as he was a fan of that.

Thanks for the background infos. Was reading all the game interviews with the programers in the game magazines in my public town library when I was a kid and loved the stories of hidden gimmicks, easter eggs and stuff they coded into the games. The schoolyard was the place to share those "secrets" with others and getting similar infos on other games in return.

What the shit! I never seen this one!!! I was referring to the second one apparently.
I need to replay this game now, that changes things considerably especially in the Alien level!!
But that's some NINJA skills to get there jumping from the blade form, god damnit Schlauchi you're a legend.

You can get there by using rope twice too, it is easier.
