Team 17 vs Psygnosis
Which company (in your opinion), had bigger impact in the Amiga world?
Both companies gave us a lots of legendary games. To name a few: Team 17 - Alien Breed series, Superfrog, Assasin, Worms, Body Blows, Project X, Quak, Arcade Pool, Super Stardust.. etc Psygnosis - Shadow of the Beast series, Agony, Lemmings series, Benefactor, Brian the Lion, Barbarian 1 and 2, Dungeon Master... http://hol.abime.net/hol_search.php?N_ref_publisher=590 http://hol.abime.net/hol_search.php?...itstart=&find= 1) Which company wins as a better publisher? 2) Which company wins as a better developer? 3) Any third company that can join the race? I personally like Team 17 better. Both companies published many games with amazing graphics, but for pure playability, Team 17 wins for me. Or simply said: Psygnosis - quantity, Team 17 - quality (not to be taken purely literal) Last edited by d4rk3lf; 21 June 2019 at 14:44. |

Btw its ‘which’ not witch.
Even though being a huge Lemmings fan, overall i preferred Team 17, nothing can take away the support and releases Psygnosis gave us and probably single handily sold more Amigas in the 80s than anyone else put together, but from the early 90s Team 17 listened to fans more and gave us full screen, fast 50fps gameplay in alot of their games, supported the CD32 more and generally their games were more fun to play and not just look at. |

Yes they have released some great game, but also they must fix again some games in Special Edition because very frustrating; but in my pov there are other that they had to fix. I like some games of course, but other have a graphics that seem made to attract the players and then not offer more gameplay then other Software House games.
However players are always attacted by nice graphics and maybe Team17 has found a nice recipe in that. |

Microprose clearly wins....
Between those 2, I played more Team 17 games, finishing multiple times SuperFrog, Alien Breed (original) and Project-X. Had also lots of fun with Overdrive and Worms. From Psygnosis I only finished 2 games, and both of them only on emulators and only once - Agony and Leander. While I played Lemmings and Walker a bit, I never got into them enough to finish either one of them. Last edited by Anubis; 21 June 2019 at 14:23. |

You forgot an "s" my friend . The master of the Dungeon (Lord of Chaos) may mater about this
I did play games from both company BitD. This said, I have to admit that I bought more games from Psygnosis than from Team17. Based on this, I will give my vote to Psygnosis. Last edited by malko; 24 July 2019 at 13:04. Reason: changed BiT -> BitD |

1) I guess Team 17, since they're still publishing games today. you can't ignore longevity.
2) Neither, they're both awesome and system sellers. However it can't be ignored that Psygnosis did so really early on with Lemmings and SOTB. 3) Gremlin? Core? Factor 5? Sierra? Microprose? Sensible Software? Bitmap Bros? Heck, even Vulcan Software made somewhat of a marker, but too late in the game unfortunately. Last edited by gimbal; 24 June 2019 at 14:31. If it weren't for Alien Breed 3D I+II, I'd go with Psygnosis

Well its a bit harsh since Sony bought and later shut down Studio Liverpool, they didn’t go bankrupt, but it’s all merged, so technically Sony/Psygnosis are still publishing games!

With all those heavy hitters listed it's pretty much a tie for me.

Thanks for the grammar fixes guys... I edited my first post.

Well, we can ask mod to add Renegade, or Microprose, or whatever big publisher was back then. Or fell free (you, or anyone else) to make a new thread about biggest companies.... I don't know all of them. This was interesting to me. I did expected that Psygnosis gets more votes (from reading various threads here over the last 2 years), but not this much. Yesterday it was 3 times votes, now it's more then double. I guess, it's because Psygnosis gets earlier on the scene, and created first hits, that left most emotional impact (today - most nostalgic). Though, I still think Team 17 had a bit polished games overall. |

Interesting thing with Team 17 is that they tried to make a good game in all games categories :
for example : Versus : Body Blows Fast Platformer : SuperFrog Shmup : Project X Sport : Arcade Pool Top Down Shooter : Alien Breed Series Top Down Racer: Overdrive - ATR FPS : Alien Breed Strategy : Worms All these games are great in their category. I think we can't say the same thing with Psygnosis, whenever SOTB, Agony, Leander, and Lemmings are great games too in their own category |

While Hired Guns is 1 of my all time favourite Amiga games , there were not many other Psygnosis games i really liked a lot, Walker was good and played quite a bit.
But overall i played Team 17 games a lot more, Alien Breed series,Superfrog, we played 100s of hours of Arcade Pool, Worms , all got a "LOT" of time So Team 17 is the winner for me |
