WTB: PCI gfx card that can handle at least opengl 1.4

Seems like the crappy Unichrome gfx on my ITX mobo can't run any of the freeware media centres since it doesn't support Opengl!

Looking for a cheap PCI gfx card than can handle opengl 1.4 and at least 1024x720 resoultion.

Also would prefer DVI out.

Thanks!

How much you wanna pay?

ATI X1550 PCI 256Mbyte & Geforce 8500GT 256Mbyte were available for about £30 a year or so ago.

I can only find those in PCI express?

It looks like a ZOTAC PCI 5200 would be best but I dont really want to spend another £30 on this thing.

You can get a Geforce 6200 in PCI and it's better than the FX5200

I think I might forgo trying to get these media centres to work and just do a clean install of Windows MCE 2005.

Only problem is will it fit on the 4gb SSD?

Adding a PCI graphics card would mean I need to buy the VIA PCI double riser and some flexi pci cables to fit my case specs.

It'll probably fit alright, but the creation of temporary files during installation may well require a bigger drive.

You might have to install it first to a larger drive, make an image of it and then write the image to the 4GB SSD. The imaging utility must support drive geometry translation.

The main problem I'm having is the paging file. Even if I set the paging file to write to somewhere other than the SSD it always ends up there.
