my thanks to Angus for encouraging me to get my arse in gear and finally write this review:
http://www.angusm.demon.co.uk/AGDB/DBM1/WipOut.html and for respecting that different people can happily have different opinions on what makes a game good. |

After reading your review Horace, I think I might have had a demo of this way back in time. Was it released on Atari ST too?
Could you zone the adf, I'd like to try this for \ bit of nostalgia! Cheers! Jon |

musojon74, there was i believe an ST version yes, although i have never tried it.
If you want to use the ADF version, you can find it here; http://amigaonline.condor.serverpro3...ut/WipeOut.adf but you would need to use a custom-type ADF to be formatted for the league disk. Its best to put the league disk in DF0: when the cracktro appears, and the game-disk in DF1:... strange i know, but it works(ish) however, the IPF (or a real copy!) is a more reliable way to run it, although you can only use one drive, it never needs swapping after you 'dir' the league-disk. A pre-made custom league-disk for the IPF / real version can be found here; http://amigaonline.condor.serverpro3...LeagueDisk.adf of course, the IPF cant be uploaded or provided here for obvious reasons!! all this confusion / mess is why i requested the whdload slave in the first place! |

This game was awesome! We played the demo from the coverdisk from I think it was AF, and wanted the full version. Great game for 2 players. 1 player not so good.
Got the full (non-floppy) version, but without the manual, have no idea how to start the game!! It has all these cryptic icons for its menu. LOL. |

Cheers Horace! I'll try this after work to see if it's the same one I remember! I'd have a go at whdloading, but I'm afraid it's probably beyond my expertise (my language skills are limited to html, javascript, and some C# / ASP.net stuff.)
THanks again! |

@ Calgor - i'm in the process of typing the manual up, i'll upload it and link to it here when the important bits (menu navigation) are done!
@ jon - any knowledge you can bring that might help Bippy or anyone else who will have a go at a slave, is very welcome in my eyes, and such efforts will always be appriciated regardless of success rate! |

i recently recovered my own copy of the coverdisk during a sort-out, and also WHDload installed it (generic slave - sadly, didnt work on my real A1200 though)
The ADF is on AMR. Issue 10of AF... http://amr.abime.net/issue_166_coverdisks Last edited by Hungry Horace; 10 March 2008 at 16:39. |

Its in the Zone so if anybody wants to give the short but rather fun cover disk demo a quick try, be my guest. No guarantees it will work on your hardware but it works here and has a quit key! :-) Cheers. |

Thanks, I just started playing it and I'm stuck in a solar system. I thought I remembered the rules - if your the top rated player in the solar system you can move to another one the next level up, but the game won't let me move and I can't work out why.

not enough money to get to the next system perhaps?
might just be a case of maintaining that top status before it allows you to (your ranking must be equivalent to the one you are trying to move to).... of course, you'l have to compete in a one-on-one 'chicken run' or similar before you can get into a new league! |

Cliffhanger is a real movie license horror! The game even sucks more than the normal Ocean license crap. Worst thing about it is that Psygnosis was involved in the making

Whilst I certainly agree that Cliffhanger is beyond bad I think this is a little off-topic
