The BPPC > 300mhz thread
Pure mutual masturbation here....
How many of us have solicited the services of Stachu100 to upgrade our BPPC cards? Did you use someone else or was it a DIY job? What CPU did you upgrade your BPPC from? Did you go the whole hog and upgrade from 040 to 060 too? What software have you seen the biggest performance hike with since the upgrade? Is OS4 classic now your main Amiga OS? Share your stories! and picture Pr0n |

Mine will be off to Stan, hopefully this side of Christmas, just have to pluck up the guts to send it after a few bad postal experiences
Mines an 060/240mhz now so its pretty capable, I was going to buy another PPC 175mhz for the upgrade but the deal fell through due to cashflow problems! So I guess will be sending my 240mhz unit, will have the 060 overclocked to 66mhz at the same time as long as SCSI still works. Here are the before shots: |

I have an 040/160 that I am considering upgrading.
@fitzsteve Would you consider sending mine off for a full upgrade and I buy yours off you - once mine has successfully been upgraded? |

Hi, sorry but I have original box with manual and matching serial no. Hence why I wanted to use another blizzard. However I hope to not have to upgrade the 060 as thats quite a chunk of the cost.
If the 060 wont clock to 60mhz will prob just leave it and just upgrade the PPC. Maybe you could buy my 240mhz PPC chip? I also know that my card is 100% rock solid, Im not saying you have a bad card but I know mine if that makes sense... Steve. |

Yeah the 040 to 060 is currently the main reason that I am wanting to upgrade, I have been putting it off for a while now but might have to just 'go for it' and get everything done when OS4.1 for classics arrives.

Got mine sorted by Stan a while ago now. She runs fine and dandy if a little warm, but I have yet to really push the card. Once I get my software installation running smoothly I'm expecting good things.

By the way I'm buying a BVision, so if I get it all up and running Warp3D, I'll make you a copy of the OS Drive |

I hate you all! :-D
But seriously, don't care about PPC - it's no longer Amiga. |

BTW, I have a Bvision + Bppc combo (040@25+240mhz ppc+scsi+256MB ram), and I have been tempted several times send the bppc for upgrading the 040 to a 060, but then the bppc it is in such pristine condition (It looks like new), that I hesitate on the thought of ruining the beauty of it, just for the sake of speed. It is an inner fight, that never ends. |

Rest easy, Gulliver. The 240MHz PPC is certainly no slouch.

@Fitzsteve, I gotta wonder if a 300mhz upgrade from 240mhz isn't just too risky given the minimal speed boost that you may get...?
Anyhoo a couple of shots of my BPPC at Stans house. Old 160mhz 603 removed. It's a big one! Amazing that they designed the boards with two set of CPU solder points! New 300mhz 603e fitted. It's a tiddler! So much power in such a small space |

Hey DDNI, great pics
I was going to get the 330mhz version. I thought that especially for OS4.1 this would be a nice boost? Steve. |

Will 4.1 be any better speed wise then 4.0?
The built in software was ok, the rest was too slow. But if I wasn't selling mine, the upgrade might be fun, but alas I use UAE more then my real amiga, cause of convenience. |

I don't understand what is all the fuss about these PPC boards. My i7-060 WinAmiga beats the socks off of any upgraded board you have!
68k rulez! I'm just a little bit envy about that OS4.1 upgrade EDIT: Nice pics DDNI. I was unaware of the double processor pins. Nice way of the developers thinking about upgrades as this for the future. Last edited by AmigaFriend; 24 November 2010 at 13:16. |
