Question about programs
So I have this emulator WinUAE, and I just wonder what good graphics programs are available for the Amiga. I tried Deluxe Paint AGA but that software is nowhere to be found nowdays. I'm not requesting warez, but rather if there is something similar around.
My fault if I posted this in the wrong forum. |

And of course dont forget that Cloanto's personal paint is now distributed on aminet.
can be found here: http://www.aminet.net/search.php?path=biz/cloan As an aside, the 'free' version of PPaint on aminet is identical to the retail version except that support for the Gif filetype is removed. Though the filetype is somewhat redundant these days (ok still good for web use) as all the issues re the gif filetype are now history as the gif patent has now expired and cant demand licensing charges. we could always ask cloanto nicely to see if they could update their ppaint distribution to reinstate gif support. I havnt played with PPaint for ages so cant recall if it has full datatypes support. If so, the exclusion of gif support in the distro might not make any difference so long as you have a gif datatype installed to load and save. Last edited by dondilly; 26 November 2005 at 14:26. |

I have just mailed a begging letter to cloanto to try and get them to update the ppaint distro on aminet now that the gif patent has expired.
I will keep you posted if i get a reply Update: Just got a reply from cloanto, the version of ppaint on www.aminet.com does contain the gif functionality. the situation has become confused as the sync between mirrors is broken and the file has been updated without changing its name or the version number and you have to go into the small print of the readme to find that the gif omission has been omitted if that makes sense. But beware that the other mirrors look like they dont have the latest version of the distribution wuarchive.wustl.edu/pub/aminet/ (the us.aminet.net mirror) certainly doesnt so anyne who wants a LEGAL cpy of Ppaint 7.1c with gif support should get it only from www.aminet.net Last edited by dondilly; 26 November 2005 at 19:16. |
