Cover Girl Poker CDTV
Ok, I'm sure this topic will be an interesting one
I have been looking for the CDTV version of Cover Girl Strip Poker for a long time, and found it on TheBoss' ftp - except that the audio tracks appear to be corrupt (white noise). Unless the CDTV supports DTS encoded tracks (which sound like white noise when listened to without the proper decoder) or other encodings, these audio tracks are useless. Since they're in mp3 format it would probably not matter IF they were encoded tracks because the encoded data would probably get lost with the mp3 compression. I know for sure that DTS encoded data survive flac compression for example. Now... I wonder if anyone in here can arse themselves to ADMIT that they own this version of the game? It bummed me out that the audio tracks did appear corrupt because what I mainly liked about the old floppy version of this game was NOT (!) the poker or stripping parts but actually the nice chillout music. Therefor I'd really really like to see a proper rip of this title... Anyone? |

Is that the Daily Sport one? I did spot a copy amongst the pile of CD-TV titles that I've been auctioning, but upon closer inspection, it was just the empty case ...
So whilst there's a slight chance the loose disc might turn up, I very much doubt it! |

http://hol.abime.net/3106 It would be great if you'd find the loose disc! You're really a CDTV goldmine, aren't you? |

Well you'll never believe what turned up today!
Trouble is, now I can't remember what I did with the frigging inlay!! Anyway, the CD seems to contain just the one [60 minute] data track, so if you try to play it through Winamp you do indeed get White Noise. However, I can run the game ok (with music) using WinUAE in CDTV mode. Furthermore, a CD *image* works nicely under WinUAE too! The image is being uploaded to The Boss' server as I type - correct file size is 304Mb (or 319,079,955 bytes) so don't bother leeching it if it's less than that ... Enjoy! |

Wow, this is wicked news retrosale.co.uk
I've been trying to locate a proper image but all I could find was something only a third of the size of what you've reported... Thank you so much for sharing (yet again) |

Oh, 300Mb is just the "zipped" size.
It's actually twice that when extracted! |

Gotta say I like the disk version better after all though. The music of the CDTV version is completely different and not nearly as nice as the music of the disk version. The mouse control is very awkward too. But it's nice that this rare game has finally been made available the way it was meant |
