Unstable A1200 Composite

Hi all,

I have some issues with my A1200 composite.
The display wobbles and jumps.
It is showing colour correctly.
I have tried three different leads and four different TVs.

I thought that the motherboard connector was giving a poor contact, so I replaced it.

The issues remain.
RF is OK.

Is the big electrolytic cap r234D (behind composite connector) involved in the Composite display? It looks ok, but I am suspecting a Cap problem.

Ta Anemos. So you added both an LED and a Cap to D233A?

If the part is listed as "R"234D it is a resistor...

I don't have a 1uF cap in my box of bits. I have a 2.2uF 5v. Will this do?
It seems to be the correct uF rating for this similar fix on Aminet.

Has anyone tried the Aminet fix?

I have an Light diode which I can add into the 2.2uF Cap if needs be.

Okay thanks.
So I spent yesterday dismantling my A1200 tower and adding a cap to the A1200 mobo (rev. 1D1).
It seemed to work, but after about 10 minutes the display from Composite and RF failed completely.
RGB still works fine.
Am I right that RF and Composite use the same signal? So if one fails then the other is likely to aswell?

Is it worth fixing this? What do you feel is likely to be the fault?

Did you not place the capacitor with backward polarity? Hardly this is the fault, otherwise.

RF and composite share the same signals and they come from the CXA1145 encoder.

As to if worth fixing... Depends if you have or not a real monitor or use your Amiga in other places (like friend's house for some gaming). Best thing to do with the RF box is sack it out and use its place for another useful hack.
