Kiwix, Wikipedia and .ZIM files

Hi!

I noticed that I am using internet only in some webpages and services: mail, wikipedia, rss (news). I was speaking with some Amiga users in Euskal Party (biggest party in north of Spain and still people showing their demos and games to a big audience) that will be great to have some "modern" tools like in PPC Macs. For example download wikipedia (yes, download) and use the KIWIX app to navigate. Like this you can safe time and resources (not the hard disk) and also can use Amiga for academic purposes.

Is there any one working on it?

I'm not aware of a Kiwix app, but instead of supporting Kiwix, what about converting Kiwix format to AmigaGuide?

The Amiga has offline hypertext with datatype support and across multiple files. We'd just need some kind of search mechanism...

Will be perfect. I think that to have an offline viewer will be good for the community. I don't know how to convert ZIM to AmigaGuide but will ask to some one who maybe know something.
If you have an idea will be welcome also

It looks like Zimdump (which is part of zim-tools) might be able to extract the data from a zim archive. If it could be converted to Markdown with something like pandoc, then you should get a markdown repository.

At this point Betajaen's Md2Guide might be able to get you most of the way to a functioning AmigaGuide archive.

Another alternative, not quite as Amiga-esque would be to convert to Markdown and maybe write a template filter for Hugo that would dump out Amigaguide files with links to each. I mention Hugo because others have used it to generate Gemini formatted files.
