Floppy disk Amiga Format Subscriber Superdisks

I was wondering if anyone would be willing to upload these to the Zone. I've always been interested to see what was on these disks, and I can't find them anywhere online. Not sure how many there are, but I think they started producing them in 1993.

I have almost every issue of Amiga Format (missing a few of the early ones, and some of the most recent). Being in Australia it was too expensive to subscribe to AF, so I missed out on the bonus disk each issue...

The later Amiga Formats included that issue's subscriber disk on the CDROM, but they were in encrypted DMS format of course .

Is it easy to decrypt these? I have a lot of the later cover CDs and I had forgotten that the disk was included on the CD.

Big thanks also to the person that sent me disks 49-80.

Galaxy dude, as far as I know, DMS decryption is quite weak.

Quote from the readme.file

xDMS Features:
--------------

Supports decompression of files compressed using all known DMS
compression modes, including old and obsolete ones, ***and also encrypted
files, for 100% compatibility***.
Can test DMS files integrity, view file informations and show attached
Banners and FILEID.DIZ .
Can generate standard disk images and compressed disk images, using gzip,
if you want to store your files in ADF or ADZ formats.
Can extract the files contained inside the DMS archives, if the
compressed disk is an AmigaDOS disk, using readdisk made by Bernd Schmidt.
Can process multiple files in batch with a single command, and also use
stdin and stdout for input and output of data.

The -p option uses a password to decrypt the dms files if they are
encrypted. DMS uses a very lame encryption algorithm that could be easyly
cracked. In fact, if the file is encrypted, and contains a banner, you can
unpack it with any password.

Send a message via ICQ to andreas Send a message via AIM to andreas
Got a couple of them here too, but WITHOUT banner. (hah even back then they knew how to not make it too easy for hackers )
No go if you don't know the password.

Does anyone know when/if AF stopped producing subs disks? AF115 still came with a subs disk but AFCD 45 (AF 129) does not have a subs disk included on the CD.

Still after subs disks from issue 81 onwards too if any of you guys have 'em to share. (or passwords from the Backstage newsletter)

If anyone has any password protected DMS files I have modified XDMS to brute force the 16-bit key and then attempt to generate a valid password to match the key. So if anyone else has any protected DMS archives we can bypass the protection.

Codetapper to the rescue again.

Thanks to that wonderful hack I now have subs disks 91, 95-97, 99, 101-102, 104, 108-110, 115 in addition to disks 49-80.

I can upload any of these if anyone is after them.

Can you guys with AFCDs send me any missing subs disks and i'll convert them to adfs. They are in the coverdisks folder on the CD.

Galaxy,
which CDs do you need the DMS files from? I've got nearly all the AF cover CDs as well as the majority of coverdisks (but no subscriber disks that I'm aware of). Actually I'll be seeing a bloke in the next couple of weeks who has ADF'ed all of the AF coverdisks, as well as scanned their covers at 300 dpi. I don't know if he's archived other magazine coverdisks or not, but will let you know.

We need a full AF (and other mags) cover disk and CD-ROM archive!

Any of the issue nos not listed in my above post. The AFCDs that I am missing are:

2, 4-6,8-10,14,16,19,21-23,27-30,31-44,46-

I'm not sure if/when subs disks were stopped but AFCD45 does not seem to include one on the disc (but AFCD31 does include one)

Hi Galaxy,

I've got all of those issues from 6-49 (possibly the rest of them, but I'd need to go digging through more boxes).

So I'll ask the moderators - do you mind if I upload approx. 40 CD ISO images to the zone? Or is there somewhere else I should upload them to? I've previously asked the TOSEC team if they wanted the missing CD32 Gamer, CU Amiga and Amiga Format cover CDs (amongst others) and never got a response.

So mods, is the Zone ok to upload these to or not please?

[EDIT} I've just realised that I can of course just copy the coverdisk.dms file from the cover CD and upload those to the zone. But would there still be interest in my upping all of the cover CDs? As the last version of TOSEC I looked at didn't have all of them included.

Cheers,
Gizmomelb

The encrypted dms files would be great. The whole CD would be far to large for the Zone and wouldn't be allowed by RCK.

AFCD43 is the last issue (number 127) that has the subscriber's disks on it.

The zone isn't for ISO images and tbh its not fair to expect RCK to pay for the excessive bandwidth these will take up (more than just 1 person would download them!).

I think contacting Idoru directly would be more prudent and I am sure I have all if not nearly all AF cdovercds as ISO images on HD and a lot of the CU cds

Thanks gizmomelb for those disks.

The following subs disks are now accounted for:
49-56,58-80, 91, 95-127

Can anyone help out with the missing disks:
57,81-90, 92-94

Also, if anyone knows if subs disks were provided for issue 128 or newer please let me know.
