Putty Input Lag - New Patch Possible?
Not sure if this is the right place for this?...
What with the recent news about a new version of Putty being released soon, I thought I would fire up the original on my Amiga. One thing that really struck me was the hideous input lag the game has, honestly it is really bad, fire it up and give it a go if you don't believe me, you push left or right and it takes about 0.5 seconds before Putty moves in that direction. At first I thought that this must be a WHDLoad bug or something wrong with my Miggy, but no, same thing happens in emulation and with the original floppy version. Makes me wonder how this game could have been released with this lag in place? Anyway, I wonder if one of our lovely WHDLoaders could look at this? is it possible to correct this lag in a new WHDLoad patch? Last edited by manic23; 18 May 2013 at 18:04. |

I am not sure about this, I completed Putty many times and created Puttymoon website, but didnt met problem you are reffering to.
There are some bugs and problems with Putty install, which I reported to mantis bugtracker many years ago, but not that one. |

Maybe you are just not sensitive to input lag like I am, I promise you that it is there.

Sounds more like bad programmed controls than an input lag. There is no input lag if you play on real hardware.
Edit: Just tried it on my A1200. The animation/movement is obviously not as smooth as you've expected, that's all. Last edited by Retro-Nerd; 18 May 2013 at 18:55. |

I can assure you there is! I am playing on real hardware. Try it, just go to the first level, and push left or right and watch the character and note the delay between button push and character movement.

You haven't played enough Amiga games? You will find more with crappy/unresponsive controls. Putty isn't that bad compared to others.

Right ok then I stand corrected, I must admit most of the games I play are mouse driven puzzle type games so I havant come across this type of control before
