Installer for NewIcons46
Hi!
I am on workbench 3.1 and want to install NewIcons46.lha. I got Installer version 43.3 and copied it into C: when I run the new icons installer program, I get the error : Unable to compile Script Invalid parameter for statement on line 312 I looked at the install script, and the error is thrown while writing a message : (message #wrongversion (all)) Am I running the correct installer version ? Anyone encountered this error also ? Many thanks |

I don't know if there is an Installer that works correctly with NewIcons 4.6, but anyway, I always prefer to install everything manually.
You have to copy the NewIcons patch program into C:, the program can be started from the startup-sequence (after IPrefs) or the user-startup with Run >NIL: c:NewIcons then you will need one of the newicon.libraries in Libs:, there are 3 different versions available for different qualities. Read the docs about it. You also need the NewIconPrefs preferences file in Sys:Prefs and a configuration file Envarc:NewIcons.prefs. There are other replacements on Aminet for NewIconsPrefs using other GUIs like GadTools: NiPrefs-GT for example. There is also a version of DefIcons for WB 3.1 which can be copied with its icon into WBStartup, and it needs a configuration file Envarc:DefIcons.prefs. I hope that I didn't forget too many details, but just looking into the docs and the NewIcons package for the supplied files may help. On OS v44+ you won't need the NewIcons patch anymore, and don't use the old DefIcons program either. For OS 3.5+ there is also an emulated newicon.library available written by Stephan Rupprecht. Maybe the script is checking for ClassAct, which is required for the Prefs program if I remember correctly.
The package can be found here (with its own install script): https://aminet.net/package/dev/gui/ClassAct2Demo And the latest version is here (without install script): https://aminet.net/package/dev/gui/classact33 Otherwise I have no idea since I've never seen that error, but it has been a while since I actually used the install script to install NewIcons. |

instead install newicons which is old and buggy is better to install the icon.library v46 by peter
it support newicons and 0S3.9 icons etc and is way faster https://aminet.net/util/libs/IconLib_46.4.lha |
