Recent Login interruptions
On each of the last few (four or five) days my first login attempt here has been interrupted by my browser (Chrome) being redirected to http://adserver.selwoodltd.com/
Following a quick press of the back button, there is no other abnormality and the second login attempt is successful. Is anyone else experiencing this? |

No. I suspect it's Google Ads misbehaving.
Only EAB login triggers it; nothing else. |

Today I wasn't able to log in using Tapatalk. I had to log out and add credentials again.
Can 't say if another site was involved. Cheers, McT |

Weird or worrying?
I just get blank pages from those links using Firefox, is that what you get through Chrome? |

I hardly log on nowadays (just browse mainly) but I have today after reading this thread. There doesn't seem to be any problem for me using firebox, have you tried Malwarebytes to see if it can find any problems?

There's no other abnormality, as I said in the opening post and, yes, I just get a blank page displayed in Chrome too. Quote:
I'll give Malwarebytes a try to see if that will help. Thanks for the suggestion. PS. It's back to http://adserver.selwoodltd.com/ tonight. |

Installed and ran Malwarebytes this morning.
One archive containing a Trojan was quarantined (I had never opened the archive since I downloaded it), and several PUPs (Potentially Unwanted Programs) were identified, which did not seem to be of great concern... Back to http://adserver.selwoodltd.com/ at login time tonight. |

I don't use Chrome although a lot of software installations seem to be pushing it like Comodo firewall with Chromodo and the way Yahoo etc were often pushed in the past which if possible I do not install (or remove if I had no choice).
The next thing I would suggest is to give Firefox a go and see if you still get diverted. I don't know which PUPs you found but unless they were for keygenerators or some other slightly dubious purpose that you know about, I would remove them and also run a full virus scan. You haven't added/installed anything to Chrome to maybe cause the redirecting i.e. a new add-on like you can in Firefox to make browsing easier by chance have you? Also look at :- http://www.2-spyware.com/remove-chro...ect-virus.html or just google "chrome redirecting" there is a lot of information about a virus that does what is happening to your computer which I wasn't aware of until just looking today Last edited by Allen1; 26 January 2016 at 15:47. |

Thanks for the further info.
My Chrome browser has no add-ons and a full virus scan hasn't picked anything up, so I guess the PUPs will have to go next and then maybe I'll try Firefox again. Also, I haven't tried this recently: http://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/secur...e-removal.aspx |

I got a message when I logged in today...
"You forgot your password, dumbass" Well, I mean, really. Is there any need for that! |

All the PUPs have been quarantined.
AVG flagged a malware detection while the Malwarebytes scan was in progress, so I let it remove the culprit. 'Redir' was part of the filename, so I thought that had done the trick, but when I logged in this evening, my browser was redirected to http://datasmsads.com/ once more! Microsoft Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool v5.32 has found nothing suspicious either. Edit: I'm downloading Firefox now... |

No redirection tonight, even though I haven't got around to installing Firefox yet!
Incidentally, I bought Computer Act!ve magazine today because it contains a very informative five page article "Remove Malware Completely". It's particularly useful because it tells you how to do it, step-by-step, using free software. I'm glad to have got hold of a copy. Thanks for bringing the issue of malware to my attention, Allen1! |

Hi Prowler,
I am pleased you weren't redirected tonight I download a lot of TV shows and some of the sites sometimes get infected and try to take you to places you don't want go such as advertisements or naughty stuff, with Firefox you can add "Block Site" and "Adblock Plus" to stop 99% of that stuff from being a problem. I also set my privacy control to "never remember History" for the majority of surfing and when I'm done for the night I use CCleaner to clean up everything else. You can still get the odd virus etc but nothing serious has happened for a very long time, I also use COMODO firewall which like CCleaner is available free or you can buy upgrades but the free versions are pretty good. Well that's me for the night, my bed awaits me |
