Dead a1200
Hey guys.
So, my a1200 died. I'm not sure what was going on, had a green screen initially so checked and reseated chips etc. Then a blue / purple screen (will post screenshots later). When my blizzard is in I just get a grey screen. In neither case will anything boot, even after i've disconnected everything. I'm guessing it'll be the caps although none of them are bulging at all? |

Most of the caps don't bulge when they're failing - the small, silver ones simply leak downwards onto the PCB, dissolving any traces underneath them, often without showing any outwards physical signs of a problem. It could well be that some critical address or data lines have been eaten through, but it could also be some other issue with one of the custom chips. Fortunately, most of that sort of damage can be repaired easily enough...
