US-based copy of Hombre
Is there anyone based in the US willing to write a copy of Hombre and mail it to me? I'd gladly pay shipping and a tip. I also have a few used DD disks that I could send to be used (multiples in case one is bad) or would standard 1.44MB work if I tape over the identify hole? I have those new too.
I have ordered Workbench 1.3 disks and a floppy emulator but it's going to be a few weeks and I'm anxious to get started sooner! Thanks! |

Yup, what DamienD said. For using a null modem cable to get things into the machine without Workbench or other special hardware.

Probably you already searched for this option, but can't you boot AmigaDos with no workbench by holding some key combo (sorry don't know this one just like that, but somebody just might). Then you can use Cloanto's AmigaExplorer (free with the plus edition of Amiga Forever?) to create disks yourself.

As far as I understand it, the 500 doesn't have AmigaDOS built in, only Kickstart which is more like a boot loader & kernel so it doesn't have any interface until you insert a game or app disk. Even those tend to have minimal environments which lack either "type" or "SER:" support which I believe is what AmigaExplorer uses.

US-based copy of Hombre
Amiga Explorer isn't free because you have to pay for Amiga Forever, I have already sent retro486 his Hombre disks.
Who needs to pay to fucking Cloanto and extend their belief that they are needed, when someone can give you a hand for free?? And yes, you need a boot disk of any kind to get to AmigaDOS, there's no key combination bringing up a window out of nowhere. So if you have no disks, even if you had KS2.x+, you cannot do anything. And how is this related to that at all? That thing was free. That was my criticism. Cloanto on the other hand are vultures charging MONEY for something that is actually free. Do you understand the difference? Let me explain, you are comparing a bunch of independent musicians giving their work for free (giving them an email isn't payment), to a fucking company eating off the Amiga corpse by selling people an emulator you can actually get for free and other shit that can be replaced by actually FREE tools and options. Shame on you, for even bringing a non-issue up, on a public forum. Next time PM me if you are so upset about absolutely misunderstanding what I wrote to someone else. |
