For amigaos4 interested : AmigaONE X1000 big video!
@All
While I am aware that this site is mostly for classic users and 68k lovers, I find that some people there are interested in the AmigaNG scene, be it Amigaos4, Morphos, or AROS. So I created another "big" video, but this time it is about X1000 from A-EON. [ Show youtube player ] The X1000 was their first machine, which was later replaced by the X5000, which is still sold in amiga shops, but just cost a lot (through making today's full-big amiga classic also cost a lot, so price means nothing when you update your machine from the 1950s). It's in a few ways a bit worse than the X5000 : slower DDR2 , while the X5000 has DDR3, no inbuilt RS232 on the rare of the motherboard, so you need a small adapter for it, slower boot, etc. On the other hand, it has a genuine desktop PowerPC processor from PASemi: the PWRficient-1682M, which has two cores running at 1.8GHz each and has an Altivec unit . While the CPU in the X5000 is at 2.0ghz, it lacks the altivec unit. Anyway, even today, the x1000 and x5000 are probably the only platforms designed specifically for AmigaOS4 and are still fast enough for some nerd's needs The content of the video: 00:00 Intro 00:20 PART 1: What is "X" ? 03:30 PART 2: A closer look at the "Nemo". 05:30 PART 3: On the table. 07:10 PART 4: The Guts. 12:33 PART 5: Installing of AmigaOS4 FE 22:15 PART 6: Stress It! 27:50 Outro [ Show youtube player ] Enjoy! that’s a great vid thanks for posting! I set up mine up a decade ago now and honestly forgot so many things now of the initial setup. It’s such a great and reliable system for me.

[ Show youtube player ] Hopefully, it won't get striked by some random person It's not anymore the most powerful Amiga that money can buy, but I am very happy with my X1000. I am so satisfied, that I've ordered X5000/40. Hopefully it will arrive soon, so I can review it too. |

@Deaths_Head
Reuploaded the video with some seconds replaced in the history part, where I use video from some 2010 party, which the author claims is copyrighted, so I just asked other people who made an old record of the first x1000 shows, and they were ok with giving their footage for this history part. So, I remixed and reuploaded, and the links in my first post were updated. Thanks for your interest |
