You really need to add as an option:
"Maybe, I am seriously considering it..." I was never really interested in OS4, but this Netbook is giving me pause... desiv |

My answer: a big fat 'NO' !
I'd rather use Aros on a netbook. (There's already one in fact: https://sites.google.com/site/arosaspireone/home) As long as there's a tiny bunch of amiga-brand fanatics who feed all of this, I see no way out of these speculations brought by vultures companies. |

I voted no, but if it were to land say around €300 for netbook + AmigaOS 4 then it's possible I might reconsider at some point. If AmigaOS 4 would finally get good OpenGL support then that would also weigh in a lot.

No, of course not What I would like to know is why no one is making A1200s (yes, I'm being naive here ).

I'm definitely saving up for one. I already own several classic Amigas and Aros machines (desktops as well as a laptop and netbook) a PowerBook for MorphOS 3.0 (when it comes out) and a 400Mhz Efika which I'm currently running MorphOS on. I love the Amiga OS and its derivatives but I've never been able to afford any hardware that could run OS4. I'm intrigued by the OS, it has several features that MorphOS and Aros still haven't caught up with yet (although they both surpass it in other areas) and I would love to port my software to OS4. Since I've been using a 128MB 400Mhz Efika for MorphOS already I am sure the CPU in this new netbook will be sufficient, and with four times as much RAM I'll be able to open a lot more browser tabs in Origyn Web Browser than I currently can.

I would be willing to go higher in price if they ould increase to either a 15 or even a 17 inch screen.

Well, I'm still not sure what to think, but if the price range is correct (will see what happended) I'm more then interessted to give it a go. Saying that, I hope that Amigakit is handling the sale again... Not that I don't trust H. but I trust Amigakit more .

Very positive response from EAB!
Given that EAB is THE bastion of classic Amiga, this response suggests that the Netbook/portable NG Amiga is LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG overdue! |

Yes, I like the idea and at an affordable price and it would be great if Amigakit was handling the sales as they always provide a great service

For me, it's about NG Amiga that's affordable. Everything that's come before has been a lot of money for not-a-lot of computer. I've dismissed OS4 up until now, if they can come through with this, I'll seriously be considering getting one!

How well will it emulate classic 68k? And would I get '030 speeds at least?
It won't be an Amiga to me unless it's fast enough to run all my legacy software. But i'm definitely interested, especially as it has a powerVR chip. Very nice. |

It depends on how fast this PPC is, I'm guessing 300mhz, should be ok for the 020 Jit emulation as I imagine it would have decent speed Ram. My 330mhz Classic PPC (Blizzard) struggles with emulation under OS4.1 but I think it is mainly to do with the Ram/Bus, I keep meaning to try OS4.1 Classic on my 233mhz Cyberstorm PPC as this is much faster with normal PPC apps due to the 64bit Ram. I imagine the Bus/Ram on the Netbook would make a lot of difference. My 800mhz AmigaOne is really fast when it comes to 68k emulation, the 68k port of Quake for example seems to scream along at 60fps Be interesting to hear more on the specs of this machine. Steve. |
