Freezer cartridges

Wanted: Amiga freezer cartridges not yet dumped and emulated.

I found trick that allows software ROM dumping of Nordic Power and other cartridges based on similar PCB design (They have scrambled address and data lines = rom dump via eprommer results in unusable "random" data)

Missing:

Nordic Power (I have 2, thanks Thor, but both have broken ROMs, stuck bits They have different software, can't create one working from two broken carts..)
Bus Stop
..

Supported:

Action Replay series
X-Power Professional 500 (v1.2 support included in next WinUAE beta)
Action Cartridge Super IV Professional

Although I don't emulate, nice work Toni (and Thor)! I had forgotten that Nordic released a Power cartridge for the Amiga. They were never sold here in Australia AFAIK, although the C64 one was.

@EAB peeps
If would dearly love to buy a real X-Power Professional 500, so if anyone here wants to sell one or sees one on Ebay then please PM me about it!

Thanks again Toni, I knew they are in the hands of an expert and had no doubt you'll find a method sometime.

This is the Design & Engineering version, if someone has the Gameworks version it would be great too (at least the copyright notice should be different )

Anyone with a disk that is not German version 1.3 or that is from LC/LCX version?

Files updated again. Now also includes confirmed working scrambled ROM dumps (not that anyone really needs them but it is for completeness/preservation or something..)

Tested by replacing original ROM chips (really OTP EPROMs, not mask ROMs) with programmed 27C512 EPROMs.

It is not "real" rom. Super IV does not have any ROM chips, Super IV "ROM" is loaded from disk.

Included "ROM" is my hack, easy to use version of Super IV for WinUAE. (It is Super IV image ripped from loader program + relocated to special "safe" location)

Hi!

I´ve got the brown Nordic Power! It`s V1.5 SC. I would like to dump it on my own if it`s possible. Can you tell me more about the trick that you found out about? Which eprommer do you use?

Cu

Great!

Software trick requires A500 + 68010 CPU. Trick is very simple, move VBR, point VBR+0x7c (NMI) to your own routine that copies cart's ROM area to regular RAM. Press freeze (cart's internal logic does not know VBR was moved but it still maps ROM and RAM to address space), wait until memory copy is finished, reboot, use any monitor program to save the data to disk

AFAIK any eprommer works without adapters, 27C256 is very common 8-bit EPROM type.

I have willem 4.1 (with 16-bit adapter, needed to program KS compatible eproms) + modded to "sivava 4.5"-compatible (faster and also allows use of newer software, http://www.sivava.com/)

I also recommend disabling VPP (programming voltage) before dumping, you don't want to accidentally program the chip.. (Nordic Power rom chips are OTP EPROMs, not mask ROMs)

Thank you for the very cool description. It´s very clever! I haven`t got a 68010, so I´ve got to order one. Is it possible that I send you the cartridge because I don`t want to waste time, because you`ve got everything ready? I`ll try it afterwards on my own. I`ll send you an email.

Could you compare your X-Power with already dumped X-Power? (using WinUAE, rom in the zone). For example any differences in menus, version number in built-in X-Copy etc..
