Full-scene anti-aliasing (FSAA)

I've been testing the anti-aliasing setting but I can't see any difference. I took screenshots of the same games with anti-aliasing off and then with it set to 8x8 but there's no difference.

In the Video Options documentation it says "reduces jagged edges in menu-mode". What is menu mode? Does that mean the setting doesn't work in games?

The setting is mostly useless, it makes the 3D effect when opening the F12 more smooth.
