EOF - how to get from keyboard?

Here's a snippet of from the K&R book, (which I'm trying to follow as a tutorial)

while((c=getchar() != EOF)

which is reading input from the keyboard - but what key combination produces EOF? I can't seem to get any combination of CTRL-C/D/Q etc to produce the results described in the book?
