AMIMASTERGEAR keyboard lockup problem

hi , i have a problem running AMIMASTERGEAR this great emulator
When i run it from workbench (double click on it) it doesn't do anything , if i boot(classic workbench full) with the option CLI PROMPT or without boot sequence the emu loads ok and i can start a game (wonderboy) but the keyboard locks up(however the reset combination works) and i can't quit or do anything (keyboard control don't work) , the (competition pro) joystick works but i can't jump in wonderboy (something is wrong) , on workbench-whdload and on all other programs-games keyboard (lyra1 adapter with cherry keyboard) works ok , what is going wrong? , i really like this emu and want to run it :/

I think you need CD32 joypad to jump in Wonderboy.

the main problem is that the keyboard don't work after i load and run the rom games :/ , i think it may have to do with some driver handling the keyboard? cause spectrum emulators : CBspeccy have these problems too , the Asp on the other hand works great .

Swap Amiga Joyports
If this option is disabled:

Player One = Amiga Joy Port B.
Player Two = Amiga Joy Port A.

If this option is enabled:

Player One = Amiga Joy Port A.
Player Two = Amiga Joy Port B.

Note: Player one always uses the keyboard

I don't understand this, maybe there is no way to turn off keyboard as joystick.

yes the keyboard must always work as a joystick , but the problem is mine isn't working , i can't even exit to menu with the ESC key

Strange, i have no problems with AmiMasterGear on my A1200. Also my 3-button Amiga pad works fine for games like Wonder Boy.

Edit: Maybe a Problem with Scalos (CWB Full). Try this unofficial update. I have no probs on CWB Lite = Real WB 3.0.

Retro-Nerd That works on CWB but the keyboard problem is there (even after i boot from workbench 3.1 disks and not from cwb)


I tried now to play with joystick and after a while playing the amiga lock up completely ,that sux All of that with the latest version , thanks anyway

Then i have no clue. A problem with your Lyra adapter/Cherry keyboard and AmiMasterGear? Anyway, have you tried the latest unoffical version?

It must be a bug in emulator cause sometimes the ESC key (exit to menu) works 1 or 2 time if you press it at start and then the keyboard lock up only the reset combination works and the emulator freezes after some time playing with the joystick .

As i've said: never hat a single keyboard/freeze problem. What Joystick? You need at least a 2-button stick/pad.

i mean not playing with the joystick but playing a game (double dragon , or wonderboy ) with the joystick even if i leave it playing alone like demo (wonderboy) it freezes after some time . (i have no problem with whdload demos and games, no psu problem or memmory (tested) , must be lyra problem or something else i don't know? if someone with the same hardware can confirm?
i have 1D4/3.1 Rom motherboard

I added the HD to pc with winuae and all works ok :/ it's not software issue

the problem isn't lyra neither blizzard 1230 i've remove them and the emu freezes again after some time , maybe it has to do with the motherboard revision? who knows , anyway i have this keyboard problem with CBspeccy and amimastergear. -unexplained-


just found that i have 1D4 Budgie Rev 0 i'll do now the timing fix to see if this is the problem i hope to finish in 30 min

i did the fix and it does the same. (anyway it's the fixed version now :P)

@_psy - I have problem with AmiMasterGear and locking up the keyboard too. I did short look into sources ( version from aminet 0.81 ) and keyboard handling is silly. Its mean that is nothing wrong with your machine.

found workaround for this problem ,
i have the mouse on port 1 and (i modified) a joystick to work with 2 buttons in port 2.

In Options selected JOY 2 ON
and joysticks Port 1 standard joypad
Port 2 CD32 joypad

This way i can play any game alright with the joystick without touching the keyboard ,
the keyboard lock ups but i can exit to menu with mouse right click (all works when you are at the menu and the keyboard)
as for the complete lock up of the system after playing for 2 minutes , when i changed psu with picopsu no more lockup fixed

needless to say that Wonder Boy in Monster Land has superb scrolling on sms
