Beneath a Steel Sky - CD-32
Hey ho im new and all so be nice to me ( i registed the other week but ive been away, then i had some major pc troubles. Don't kick me for been inactive etc )
Anyway ive just got into amiga emulation recently and ive downloaded the CD32 version of beneath a steel sky from back to roots. I installed it to the hd as it stated in the text file but ive got some problems. It works, but not with sound. Now the main reason i downloaded cd32 version was for sound! Ive tried various configs in winUAE but as soon as i click the language select i get a software failure. Anyone experienced this or any idea whats wrong? (ive tried reinstalling it etc) Or can anyone with a working version of it tell me there config settings? |

There's your problem. Someone set this thing to evil....
You downloaded the crappy rip from Back To The Roots. What you should've downloaded was the CD32 ISO from Amiga CD Legal Dumping Project http://acdldp.emuunlim.com/ |

Should work
I've downloaded the CD32-version from BTTR too and it does work with sound. I had some problems too, because all the files were read-only. So, uncheck the read-only box in the properties of each file. I should check which config I use for this game. Sometimes the game still crashed in WinUAE, just like you said. after the language select. I believe I hold down both mouse buttons to bring up the early-startup control and disabled some stuff for the game to work. I used AIAB, I think it's better to use a clean WB.

ISO's
I have no experience with ISO-images. But I know you have to burn these ISO's on a CD which is not quite easy I believe, and even then I doubt if this works.

You really don't have to burn it to a CD.
Just download Winimage (search and you will find). When done you run the proggy and unpack the ISO file to a directory which you add as a harddisk in UAE. This worked fine with me. |
