Cool Hardware Pr0n of my A1260, with a few casemods

Just a few images of my little baby.

I still need to source a proper DVD to IDE adaptor... that one from Maplins is utter shite. dvd drive is powered, but obviously not connected until i find a better adapter.

the heatsink is ripped off an old pentium and machined/filed/shaped to size. only the silver conductive paste holding it on (not glued or thermal glue paste) but it aint budging!

the trapdoor sits almost flush (ram just pushes it a little) with heat sink slightly recessed. it now runs cool as a cucumber as the fan in the lid sucks through that hole in the trapdoor across the heatsink. the top lid and front bottom vents have been sealed with hotglue to direct the airflow correctly.

i put the CF card on the side as rear access is a pain as you can tell, plus i want to get a indivision so wish to leave the rear trapdoor free for the socket.

Power has be routed straight from the socket for the dvd and floppy drive to save straining the mobo.

anyway, here's the pr0n! (and yes, i know i put the power leds in upside down lol!)

and finally, the best bit :P

hi agian, nice mod youve done there, there is a mod you can do to mix the audio out from the cd drive to the audio jacks at the back of the 1200 so the music comes out of the cd to the the jacks on the 1200 so it can be ported to a scart cable and such(makes for a neat lucking system).

EDIT:-your power leds look the right way up to me.

all you need is the cd's audio cable and two 5k resistors and your set,you can push the cable's through the harddrive cradle hole and solder to the motherboard from underneath

brilliant! i feel a hunt to pinch some 5k resistors off some non working gear coming on

good tip on the hd cradle hole. the thick gauge of those power leads meant i had to go from the back of the socket instead of going under that time round. made for some difficult soldering!

you can still solder the power cables from underneath, then take them out from the left hand side of the motherbaord.then feed them along the shoulder on the back over the rf sheild, but if you do it that way you have to use wire the gauge of the floppy wire and hve them parralel to each other for a flattter finish

Ooooh! Lateral Cf Hd slot... I love it I did something similar (on the other side) in both of my A1200's. Do you know that you can do an small hole with a clear plastic (from a Cd bezel, for example) to see it's light?

Many thanks go to Blankstare! I must admit, I did have to see how it runs compared to my 50Mhz 60 so did plug it right in

it wouldn't boot on the 70Mhz Crystal but did fine on the 66mhz one until my old blizzard 60 drivers kicked in and crashed it LOL

shall sort the drivers for it tomorrow
