Call it whatever you want. Abandonware doesn't declare anything about the legal status of Amiga (or other platforms) software. There are of course legal Amiga downloads, but the most stuff isn't legally downloadable.
btw: Lemon isn't a site with legal downloads. Last edited by Retro-Nerd; 17 December 2008 at 18:39. |

Downloading Amiga games legally
I initially posted this in another thread (http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=41378) but I'm posting it here to reach a wider audience.
The Amiga flame (www.amigaflame.com) and Every Amiga Game Ever Released (eager.back2roots.org) websites both have lists of legally downloadable games and where to find them. Also, http://netzreport.googlepages.com/do...s_legally.html lists various websites where games can be legally downloaded. My question is, what do these sites mean when they say "legally downloadable"? For example, the Thalion Webshrine appears to be a legal download site by the first two sites, but is classed as an "abandonware" site by the latter site. |

It doesn't even have any games downloads so how can it be illegal?

Hi Enverex,
nice site you got there, but since you also host IPF's it's not allowed to link to your site here. |

What about "The Zone"? The whole purpose of that was for people to upload games "illegally". IPFs? |

Just out of curiosity, why not? I would have thought people would be happier to have those distributed than "not quite great" ADF files. Also those CAPS images are ones that I ripped myself and were sent back to me (when CAPS was still CAPS).
Andreas: Because you chimed into a conversation unnecessarily just shouting "It's illegal!" about everything which didn't help anyone. I think I'm gonna take AC back down, heh. If I'm catching this much flak from the "Amiga community" then I don't think there's much point. |
