I want to note that the difficulty depends also on the car chosen (slower = easier, more time to react and the other cars dont race like mad). I used the default green (M200) car for my score. Either all should take the same car, or we add a bonus multiplier for the cars: *1 for the yellow Elan SE car, *1.5 for the green M200 car, *2 for the red Esprit Turbo SE.

I'm impressed you managed to get a score in that quickly before the site went down!

I think this is a non-issue. Anyone is free to choose whatever car they like and as long as they know the differences I don't see a problem, or a need to complicate the score system when we don't need to. I certainly don't recall it being a problem the last time we played this game.

Bah! Three races into Easy mode and I'm beaten... by a WHDLoad access fault Time to dig out the old erratic Lotus Trilogy HD install (where it's pot luck whether it loads at all, but when it does it works flawlessly).

I dont know why the hiscore sorting doesnt work, I tried it twice, and saved a race ranking as proof at the second try.

Lotus 3 WHDLoad slave should be rewritten long time ago. It requires many fixes and features (high score saving option for example). I think I submitted this on Mantis bugtracker.

Here's a link to my version of Lotus Trilogy

edit: @ harry - perhaps you dont get the top spot unless you drive the Esprit? If you say Elan is easiest of the three cars, it would arrive 3rd on the leaderboard? Try with the Green car and see if you arrive 2nd.

No, that seems to be a bug in the game, if you look at the screenshots in the old competition the medium scores are also on 3rd position. Besides that, I tested with M200 first and got the 3rd position in the medium scoreboard too.

As for an other version I would recommend a look at the Two Live Crew version. I used that one back in the day, and had never in-game problems. The intro however is tricky and should be skipped very fast by hammering on the left mouse button, because it runs only correctly on a 7 MHz 68000. I dont know what the 3rd disk on the FTP server should be, because it came on 2 disks for me.

Edit: And as for the car bonuses/maluses, I have the opinion to do it right with a multiplier for the various cars, and not just meddling with the symptoms by adding one or two points. If people can compute the score for Risky Woods and Sensible soccer, they can also multiply depending on the car as in my proposal.

Yes. But it isn't necessary. At all. Full stop. End of.

It's a start.

I'd also like to see an update of whdload version.
- high score saving
- buttonwait during loading music
- a fix to stop the music stuttering during attract sequence.. etc
