Lord of the Rings by Interplay
Does anyone know if there are plans to make a WHDLoad version of the Lord of the Rings Vol 1 by Interplay at all?
Many thanks. |

I had no idea it was hard drive installable.. If it is, I'll try and get ADFs onto real discs and install it.

Hi.
It seems there is still no WHDLOAD install for LOTR. Funny, because i am under the impression that there was one as i remember to have watched a lot the intro on one of my Amiga and not from floppy. It seems the copy protection is really annoying and surely it would be nice to have a whdload. Perhaps even a port for the MSDOS version of the Two Towers, unfortunately cancelled on the Amiga (who knows with all the new stuff coming up these days). It it was still near Christmas, i would ask for an Amiga port of the unrealesed MSDOS part 3 which might have been a WIP at Interplay. |

I managed to get it working using a generic WHDLoad slave based off of Aladin's French version. It was a complete PITA. I'll upload it at some point.

It was a pain because if you replaced the french install completely with the english one, you'd get a CLI error in WHDLoad. I had to combine the english and the french versions to get it to run. It took quite some time to work out what worked with what. I've zoned my version. Not played it too much, so there might be errors.

With all the emulators supporting WHDLoad autoloading these days, I’m very surprised to see this one has never been taken on.

if you want WHDLoad you must have Harddisk and Fast RAM. At this point if the game is installable, is not better?
at the end you have the game on your HD. |

There are still lots of games that have never been HD-installable; it would make more sense to worry about those first rather than the ones that are already HD-installable.

HD installable on basic Amiga with 68000 was nice at the time, with the manual handy for the copy protection. But in 2024, i have no such computer. I need WDLOAD to have it working on 68060, Vampire, Pistorm, and copy protection removed.
Until then, the game is a lost gem for all on the Amiga. |
