Yeah that never changes. No matter how old I get, I always remain the young punk in any company I go to work for.

The earliest thread that's still alive is from 26 February 2001.

So probably 25 February 2001.
Crikey.

2001 team here.

EAB is older than 2001. This is version 2 or 3 of it, but RCK should know better. I remember there was a server crash or something, everthing had to be set up again and we had to sign again.

I've been barely using any PHPBB forums anymore, the same way I don't use ICQ nor log on IRC servers anymore. It feels like the big social networks take all of my online time. Who would say, 20+ years ago that the internet would be ruled by a couple of companies? Everything went wrong I guess.

Anyway, I still have interest on my Amiga. I still have an A600 connected to the power and the TV right besides the PC I'm using to check EAB now. I just feel I don't have much time to keep checking online forums anymore.

But being the nostalgic sod I am, I do miss the old times. There were some real good times spent here. It's really crazy to think this account exists for more than 20 years. It's more than half of my life. I only still use the name "Shattehand" here and at the shmups.com forum (which I also barely check nowadays too).

Send a message via ICQ to Predseda
I am probably not the true old timer as I do not stay with EAB from the beginning, but for me nothing changed much (except I visit EAB more frequently due to the general internet availability). I have never joined social forums vawe and I still use my nickname instead of a real name.

EAB is one of the two pillars that helped Amiga survive its darkest era (the other one is WinUAE), it is a gem and deserves as much attention, love and care as possible.

I always thought this thread was about CIA timer hardware needing replacement. Honest.

What always strikes me when this thread resurfaces is that Fred started it in 2004.
Which seems the distant past, and it is, in regards to the internet, socials, and individual life, but it's also kinda not.

I remember a couple of iterations, one at least was a dark metallic grey-ish, and with something of a guestboard / early forum, if memory serves, around 1999 or thereabout.

"When I am feeling old, a little reminder of the good old days always picks me up... Think I'll head over to EAB to rejuvenate myself!"
<reads this thread>
For some reason, I'm feeling old and tired again...
Maybe I just need to get some more rest...

Not sure about heaven, but in hell you’ll be forced to play choppy side scrolling games on Atari ST or MSX for an eternity.

Yes, that would an endless hell, agreed. I believe they mentioned the Atari ST when I read the Divine Comedy many years ago.

That doesn't sound like hell at all, choppy does not imply bad. In the same way that smooth does not imply good.

Hell has Amiga Tiretex conversions - on an endless loop to be played

Thing is and same with most retro computer fans - you would guess most C64 users are mid 40s now. Amiga similar, maybe a tad younger (will get a lot older of course)

The next 40 years most of us won't be here - may seem long way away, but bloody held 1982 and getting into computers does not seem 40 years ago!

Will anybody pick up the baton and carry on the Amiga flame or will it slowly die with the last of it's users?

Will be an endless posts about users passing away - depressing.
