Releases in Public
Not sure if this will break any rules or anything, but I shouldn't think so...
Would anyone be interested in creating a thread that lists all of the CAPS releases that have been shared by the Amiga community... (i.e. that are 'out there') I know tosec are pretty uptodate but I would be interested for one in knowing whose been sharing what outside of the usual sources... It may just be me being stupid, or ridiculously tired... ----this does not mean listing any places where to get them of course--- |

Yeah but the whole point of the matter was to help people keep tabs of the images that have been 'publicly' released.
Nothing to do with CAPS at all, just the images that people submitted who felt like sharing. I myself have shared all the files I've received from CAPS so I thought others might feel the same. I'm not at all interested in CAPS handing out files because the less legalities that they encounter, the more free they are to continue what they are doing. It was a suggestion, obviously not a popular one. I myself have 310 CAPS IPFs. Those who visit IRC would know that |

Don't know how useful that would be though as is. A game could be out there and still people wouldn't be able to find it because they don't know where it is.
If there was a www.mame.dk type resource with a databased list of releases it probably would. Problem is just like the above site, they'd risk getting into trouble if they carried the releases. However it'd be good for people who want to part with their original games to have a centralised place to do it, as well as for the users, who'd knew where, if it was released could they find it (if they carried the releases) or could know, for sure, if it ever surfaced to the public (in case they carried the database, but not the files). CAPS itself doesn't have the time to nor the will to risk getting into any types of unsavory troubles such an endeavour might bring, no matter how soft they'd be. So we haven't, aren't, or probably be able to give an answer about that. Simply put, it's in the community's hands. |
