Kickstart roms and workbench license
First off i apologise if this is in the wrong place, i’m sure a kind mod can move it to the most appropriate place.
I own an amiga a500 and a1200, but it would like to have a proper license for using amiga emulation of these two machines within winuae. Can someone tell me what is the correct way to obtain the licenses? I’ve seen references to amiga forever but it seems it comes with alot of other stuff that i dont need - is AF the only way to do it? |

Since you have A500 and A1200, you can extract roms from machine.
If you don't own it, legal way would be to get AF (cheapest one is andorid iirc) and move it to your computer, or just remember that google is your friend... |

I dont mind paying for Amiga Forever, but i’m wondering what the license actually provides - is it just for running the Amiga in emulation like winuae? |

It would seem i have my answer:
https://www.amigaforever.com/kb/13-122 If i own the original hardware then i can (with discretion) use the kickstart and OS within emulation. If not then it seems you buy a copy of Amiga Forever. |

This is how it works, yes.
But some would prefer to go the Hyperion road to get licenced ROM & WB if they don't have the original HW . Since you have the original HW, you don't need to buy AF. Aminet has all the needed tools for dumping the KS. In the other hand, Hyperion's KS 3.1.4 & WB 3.1.4.1 may be an upgrading option. Last edited by malko; 25 October 2019 at 17:21. |

Just don't run both the original machine at the same time as the emulator and you're safe.
Why do you even care, BTW? It's not as though any developer of your Kickstart will earn a penny. |
