cf not recognized

Hi chaps,
A1200
IDEFix daughter board
Catweasel floppy drive
Internal 2.5inch hard drive
SCSI CD Rom drive
Zip 100 drive
I have invested in a 4gb compact flash drive. It works perfectly as long as I dont use the IDEFix hardware but install it straight onto the motherboard, which works but I then lose most of my drives.Any help would be greatly appreciated as I really am stuck over this one. Thanks in advance.I remove the 2.5inch drive before I connect up the cf card!

CF + IDEfix is not a good combination.

Use the forum search function to find Doobrey's patches for the IDEfix software. Might make it work.

Hi Cosmicfrog,
I have bought a copy of os3.9 on ebay so it's

Hi Thomas,
Thanks for the reply - I will indeed look for the patch{es}. I do have a couple of other boards that are not IDEFix products.Could I have a go with them or would I be risking my Miggy.Better safe than sorry as my late father would have said - my Pc can happily explode and I would just put it down to bad luck but if my Miggy went West I would be really upset!!
Thanks in advance for any reply and happy Miggying
Dave

I think the culprit is the software, not the hardware. Therefore it should not matter which 4-way adapter you use, IDEfix or not, as long as you use the IDEfix software (without patches), it will not work correctly.

Just remember the CF a fresh-new technology compared with the IDEFix97, which is a software solution from 97, patched to not work with non-IDEFIX hardware in 2006 (silent "upgrade" = downgrade).

It works great with every PATA HD or removable hardware you put in your Amiga from HD, CD/DVD or MO disks, but not CF.
