Opinions on this video scaler please!

Hi folks,

I really want to use a better monitor with my A2000 & with christmas coming up, I'm buying my own gift...giving it to others so they can give it back to me...lame I know, but at least I get what I want!

Anyway, this item has been mentioned many times before, but I can't recall anyone ever saying if it works well or not:
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....ies%26_fvi%3D1

Please give feedback if you own one...at $200AUD including shipping I don't want to find out the wrong way that it is a piece of sh*t!

Oh, & if you have one that's no longer needed I'd also be keen to entertain any offers to sell

PZ.

I'd try and get an ICD Flicker-Free Video 2 internal scandoubler if you can find one.

Or buy an LCDTV with RGB SCART input.

This is a Cypress CM-397 it suffers from the same problems as all external scandoublers of Digital->Analog->Digital->Analog conversion.

It automatically scan converts to 60Hz which means scrolling will no longer be smooth. (But it will work with all LCD monitors)

Here are some pictures from inside :

If you could find one at $75 US then it would be a good deal! At $92 US it is borderline value.

Thanks for the reply Alex.

I've not been able to find any internal scandoubler...much less an external one that's actually worth what the seller is asking for it!

SCART is non-existent over here, so that option is out.

So are you saying an LCD monitor will not have scrolling problems with this?

Most LCD monitors have a minimum vertical refresh rate of 56Hz. Making them not suitable for scan doubled 50Hz PAL screens. This adapter scan rate converts 50Hz PAL screens to 60Hz which solves the problem but at the expense of smooth scrolling
