If the disks are ADos you can have a look at the files directly and with http://aminet.net/package/util/pack/xfdmaster for example

Consider an AmigaDOS disk with an iff ilbm picture on it. It is easy to open this, because everything that needs to be known is public knowledge. The operating system knows that the disk surface is divided into tracks and sectors of certain size, in a certain way. It also knows that on top of this structure there is another one, a known filesystem, meaning an established method of dividing the available disk space between files on the disk. It also knows how the contents of the file are decoded into actual graphics.
Of a non-dos disk all this is unknown. The tracks may be written in a non-standard way. There may be a non-standard filesystem, but there are not necessarily even any files. Even if a file could somehow be recovered, it is probably in an unknown format - possibly compressed or even obfuscated using an unknown method. People with the necessary skills, tools and motivation can work all this out by taking the software apart and figuring out what it does, but it is not possible for any tool to automatically conjure up all this information. The game of course must be able to read and decode its own graphics, which means they will be written into memory (probably chipram) at some point while the game runs. It may be possible to find them from there somehow. |
