CTRL+A+A for 3 seconds with Furia not working.

I noticed this yesterday. Been running my white Furia for couple of years I now noticed I cannot disable the ram to access the pcmcia. Pressing ctrl+a+a for 3 seconds just causes the screen to remain black. A normal short ctrl+a+a works.

It definitely has worked before with exactly the same hw setup. I remember transferring files from CF during 2020 or so

I've had no problems whatsoever with the Furia during the whole time I've been using it, no FS corruption or anything.

How is this possible? Can this be due to software changes? E.g. updated scsi.device?

I also sent Boboo email, but as he apparently gets a lot of it, I decided I'll also post here.

*EDIT*
Realised I could try this with booting from the WB3.1 floppy Now the CTRL+A+A for 3 seconds works and after reboot the amount of RAM is 4 megs less to access the PCMCIA.

What is causing this not to work with ClassicWB?

Specs:
A600, recapped in 2019 by Amigakit
KS3.1
White Furia with latest (for the older revision) 12.8 fw
2 MB chip
ClassicWB v28, PFS3AIO19.2, scsi.device 44.20

Thats odd. maybe try it a little bit longer.
There is another way AND you have pretty much all the Memory left.

I try to post it later here for you - little busy right now. later, take care.

That 3 sec. thing is difficult. It is not a nice solution.
I have to try several times before it works.
It would be better with just a command or a button in FuriaTune.

So, you have the new firmware for the whiteboard and problems since then ?
Hmmm, i have a white board too but i run the stock firmware.
No problems at all.

I was in a little hurry while i was reading youre thread (work), but now i had the time to see you had PCMCIA running already.

So i would have given you a step by step guide to "do it"... well, i guess thats not needed anymore.

Sure you could remove the Furia and Test it without (to find the reason for this problem) BUT ,,, lets try this first.

ALOT of people dont know that you DONT HAVE TO DO the "3 seconds thing" and loose memory in the process.
(still, it works like a charm) but you could use the "Card Res" that i post here to simply double click an icon,
that resets the A600 and now the PCMCIA is active and you got all the memory left. (almost)

If you want to have the PCMCIA all the time you could add it to the Startup-Sequence, but i personally use the PCMCIA just here and there for data transfer or for a backup via Diavolo, so the Double click Icon solution is well suited for that

Like i said, i thought you had "beginners" problems, but that is not the case.
Try the CardRes and see what happends.

Did you also try to do the 3 seconds thing and then immediately
keep holding Both mouse buttons for the Early-Startup ?
Is there the CC0 / carddisk device or do you get the black screen immeadiately ?

Like i said, i would step for step try to find the couse of this.
Also, give Card Res a try... like i said, double click. Done.

Lets see what hapends, and for all people that did not know about CardRes, here we go,
just double click it and you will have the PCMCIA and all the RAM

hope it works for you guys, works like a charm for me. Greetings and good luck

Thanks for the instruction and the files Torti Unfortunately, if I double click on the CardActive, nothing happens. I can get the SnoopDOS log later tonight, if needed.

Also, when I keep the CTRL+A+A pressed for a few seconds (tried 3 sec, 5 sec even more) the Amiga just sits there with a black screen, no matter if the mouse buttons are pressed or not.

It has to be a sw thing, because booting from a WB3.1 floppy the 3 second stuff works.

Really weird
