Archos CD-Rom

Hi

I recently got an Archos CD-ROM intended for use on Amiga 1200/600 with PCMCIA cable. Is there anyone who can help with drivers, use manuals and technical info. etc. ?

I'm a little unsure if this device also goes by the name Archos Overdrive CD-ROM or as Zappo CD-ROM in the UK.

Do you have any means of copying drivers to an ADF or writing ADF?

Coincidentally, a few weeks ago I took a closer look at the Archos and posted a summary on a1k. (in german - google translate)
https://translate.google.com/transla...ads%2F76242%2F
(german link https://www.a1k.org/forum/index.php?threads/76242/ )

The last known software has the version number 11.4, which I can upload later in the Zone. To choose the right driver you have to know which interface your CD drive has.

I just looked into doing this and the 'Amiga File Server' thread at http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=43633 states that: "To register an (FTP) account, you must have an EAB Forum account that has at least 50 forum posts to its name."

Unfortunately, I don't have enough posts yet. Would you perhaps be able to upload the file to the FTP server?

Hi caver99,

Jope's advice is spot on, you can find the files you want at
https://grandis.nu/eabsearch/

Search for...

"Archos Zappo" (for the manual)

"OverDriveInstall114.adf" (for the disk)

I think the 114 in the .adf filename I posted above means it is the version 11.4 disk. Hopefully that will work for you.

Are you sure this is the version of driver you require Bromigo!?

Have a couple of Zappo and Archos drives over the years. I find some can be more temperamental to driver being used due to the drive used.

For example the older 2x (Double speed) drives only seem to work with version 9. The newer ones (Quad Speed) can either work with version 10 or 11. The version 11 driver actually checks on installation whether it can see the correct drive before it will let you install.

Thanks Leon, that's really useful information.

Plenty of Archos drivers. That’s where I got mine from.
