Yes? Is it weird that I've been through them in the past? Any change in the rules?
Now that in the filelist file I saw a lot of folders in the uploads so I wasn't sure. |

Still accurate. Once you have 50 posts on the forum here, you can register for an account here: https://grandis.nu/eabadduser/
You can still use the anonymous account "ftp" though. |

He has way over 50 posts, and has an account, I reset his password and sent it via PM.
Forgot to post about it though like a loon |

Thanks for all the work! I'm curious, what hardware is used for the FTP server?

The FTP runs on a VMware vSphere cluster, specifically ESXi 6.7. It has a 8TB dedicated raid array with 3 WD Red 4TB disks & 16GB of ram (also runs the webserver and database).
Code:
Storage: Used space: 2.8T (37%) Free: 4.8T (63%) Some fun stats for the anonymous "ftp" account. This does not include registered upload accounts. Code:

Down? When was it up? A vast amount has been taken offline (recently) and might not ever be put back up.

I have noticed when listing for a particular game title when using the FTP search that some of the listings do not download. They are mainly ones in the Uploads folders. Looks like its the hidden upload folders that do this. Is there a work around for this?

No, there's no work around
Most of the uploads folders are hidden at the moment |

You have only one possibility actually
You must ask permission to a global moderator to make the folder you want public This is the only way |

I'm still an FTP Admin; so trust me I know. Only Turran can make folders public, but he will not do this without consent from the GMods; as there is probably still some dodgy stuff in some people's ~Uploads folders. I know this from when I started the cleaning... and the folders are now back, but hidden from normal users. I did point this out to some of the remaining GMods but was basically told where to go... isn't that correct Ian? Anyway, it's not a problem ATM unless people start requesting certain ~Uploads folder to now be made public... but this seems to be becoming more frequent now. Really the above cannot happen without all content being checked thoroughly and dodgy stuff removed. Last edited by DamienD; 18 August 2020 at 22:06. |

There is a simple solution to this scenario where people are now requesting that their ~Uploads folders be made public.
...this also takes the onus off GMods and FTP Admins to check through everyone's ~Uploads folders (again); and puts the responsibility back to the folder owner. Basically ~Uploads folders could be made public when requested by members, but if any Workbench / Kickstarts / copyright software is found then the member is simply banned. So it's totally the members call to make their ~Upload folder public, and more importantly their responsibility to check everything first. |
