It'd be good to see how different the full version is to the demo version.

And a level editor as well...

Should be very interesting indeed. Nice work Joe.

it crashes on my WinXP system but runs perfect with Vista...

Anthony told me that it should work with both systems...

Unbelievable!!! Can't imagine that a full version of this game still exist. Hopefully it will be released very soon. New games for our classics are welcome.

@Joe Maroni: Thank you for your effords. Maybe a full version of Raiden or PuttySquad will also appaear some times....

if anyone misunderstood me, i don´t have a version now, but i can tell you why the game wasn´t released...

some notes about the contact with anthony:

Quote:
I don't have copies of the master disks, but I have the full source
code, music and graphics - so I could make a set of disks up if
needed. Would have to get the 4000 started up - its not been switched on
in a few years. lol.

Quote:
No it wasn't released. The computers that had the final version on
were seized by UK police, they suspected that there was satellite
decryption code on the computers. They kept the computers for about 7
years (until 1999), they had to return them when they lost the case.
By then the Amiga market was finished and the game not marketable.
Quote:
Hi Nico,
They took the Amiga, a 486 pc (prob. state of the art then lol) and
loads of other stuff.
Everytime I bought new PC's they came back and took them - so I had to
abandon the project until it was resolved. Didn't know it would take
so long.
When I got it back it was hard to remember which bit was the latest
code - they had trashed things a bit. I should have the final still
on the 4000. I have some code that was archived to the PC, but I
don't know if its the final.
I have all the docs for the game, I scanned them in PDF format a while
ago - should be able to find them too.
The docs are needed for the protection system within the game.
Quote:
Sony bought Psygnosis around the time the machines were taken. I
don't think they cared about Amiga versions after that. Pity really
because the Amiga was a source of some very original games, etc.
Quote:
The machine didn't work when I got it back - they had disconnected
cables, removed jumpers and broke the keyboard. Sore losers! lol

lets hope that he still get it running....

Well, I just re-read this thread and it would be good to clear up the music angle once and for all?

An unfortunate tale regarding the court case and the state of some of that hardware

All very encouraging stuff however concerning where this may be heading - i rather enjoyed the demo all those years ago and was saddened when it never released - guessed it had been canned

Fingers crossed

no reply to my mail until now...

here is his answer:

Quote:
Hi Joe,

No news about Superhero, I checked the original contracts and Psygnosis have rights to publish the Amiga version and first refusal on Snes and Megadrive versions. I've tried contacting people about it at Sony (liverpool) but had no replies - now that the studio is shut down I doubt if anyone can give me a reply.
anyone know what to do next ???

The game isn't complete. It's a 4 month old version with various objects on the levels missing.

This would have been one of the few last games i bought and played to completion. It had a good feel to it. The video here shows a great looking game

A shame

I'm really sorry that it took so long to get videos for everyone...

The video is from a set of disks made up from final graphics and object code that is 4 months behind the graphics.

The first set of disks I made didn't boot at all, this is because the disks booted into my dev system - I used to use an Amiga to send object code to another Amiga - so I could remote debug, etc...

I opened up the Amiga, as it turns out the Amiga was returned with different hard drives in it than before. There are now two hard drives of a smaller capacity than the 300MB one that it had before! As a result of all this, some files are missing (all source), but the graphics were up to date.

I found object code (assembled source code) and source code dated about 4 months previous. I used to send copies to myself of everything, just in case we had any copyright problems.

I copied the old object code to the Amiga and made some disks. They booted! So in the video there is new graphics/maps mixed with old code, old baddie positions, old sprite offsets, unknown which version of music, etc...

It appears to work fine though (most of the time). I know a bug that was fixed is now back in - if you ran out of time, whilst in the air (on a sprite platform) then the game would crash and scroll to the left until it reached the end (ESC would break out of it).

Here is a link to the bigger video...

There is one ray of hope for a final version, today I remembered something, when my computers were taken a backup was made by Commodore to CDROM. My solicitor gave me back the disc in 1999 - problem is that I don't remember where I put it! I didn't need it because I had the Amiga itself!!! Hopefully I'll stumble upon it one day.

-Anthony
