h) And I can't thank you enough for this !

But, wtf, what happened ?
This looks like a moderator issuing a ban on himself !

Yesterday Aminet couldn't connect to database, EAB's server is too busy, and now Damien leaves ?
Ouch ! Nope, it's no nightmare.

You speak of some closed thread but i couldn't find it. Perhaps linking it here could at least give some explanation for those like me who didn't follow the story.

I could just say : oh no please don't leave, but others have already tried.
Just remember that if you leave, then the other guy has won.
It would be ok to beat it if EAB were a bad place -- but it's not. At least, not yet.

Oh, well, I don't know the story. And after all, you decide.
However I can still tell you something.
You have a heart and a mind. But if you listen to only one and ignore the other, you'll take bad decisions.

Well, this sucks.

I go away for a week and come back to EAB to find DamienD gone.
WTF?
Once again, some toxic leech has ruined things for everyone. Whoever you are, I hope you're very pleased with yourself...

Damien, thanks for your work in the EAB community, your help and friendship. Please have a good think before throwing it all in because of one idiot.

Damien, try to look from another perspective.
What you have donated to the community you must think you have done it exclusively for yourself.
Many of us do it just for the pleasure of doing it, to be part of it.
Appreciation and correctness (even if they should be obvious) are extras but not the focal point.
Keep doing what you like for yourself.

Take some time, get off a bit, but stay nearby.
As you can see from the many messages, we all want you to stay!
Do not let a couple of people without respect decide for you.

Ok so the story is you have made great things for the community and did not get much in return, so you dared to ask and BS occured. This has a sense of deja vu...

But you can catch the rat.
Just put some hidden serial number (aka watermark) in your next release.
If you don't know how, i can help.

I don't want anything in return for myself; I don't care for or need money; I'm happy as I am with my circumstances / situation...

The reason I asked for a small donation was so I could give something back to the Amiga community and hopefully start something good:

This means that I can then plough any money raised back into the Amiga community; as I usually do:

a) Support to RCK for hosting all "abime.net" resources like EAB / HOL / Amiga Magazine Rack / Amiga Games that weren't etc...
b) Support for Toni Wilen.
c) Support for all the numerous game creators / developers out there making new, cool stuff for our beloved computer.

Anyone that knows me can confirm that I am a man of my word and this will happen

Good idea. Much better than falling foul to freeloading scum with no respect and quitting because of them!

This is a great idea and needs to be done if DamienD decides to stay and continue to do his great work.

At the end of the day it's DamienD's choice, but if it was me, I wouldn't stop what I enjoy doing, I also wouldn't let everyone else lose out for the actions of one D*** Head.

Even if I decide to disappear from EAB; I'm not stopping what I enjoy doing. I will still continue to improve my collection constantly as I have done for the past 12 years

It's just that I may not share going forward; which sucks but...

I thought I could trust people on EAB but obviously it doesn't seem that way unfortunately; hence the leaking of my Update Pack #1 within a day of release

I'm happy to hear you will continue to do what you enjoy doing.

If you do decide to stay and carry on the great work, and release updates, make sure you add some sort of watermark and maybe only give it to people that have been member's for a certain amount of time ( whatever you think is suitable ).

But this is the part I don't get.
As per your closed thread, I thought you had narrowed it down to three people who are actually NOT real EAB members, just people who signed up to get it and fucked off with it.

That's not EAB, that's just opportunists.

Well two of them replied to my recent PMs; avukatka + dragon57 and I don't think it was one of them...

Unfortunately there's no way for me to tell exactly who did this.

All I know for sure is that it had to come from an EAB member: I sent the URL to 50 people who asked in that 24 hour period. Half an hour before it was leeked / torrent'd only 20 had actually read my PM so.

Just read up in this. Sorry for .. well... in the end, our loss DamienD.

I'm sorry it happened to you, but I'm not surprised. The number of times my so called "online friends" fucked me over are endless since, like you, I am also a person who likes to share my hard work to the world.

It has not detracted me from doing it, but I never release stuff to a small group of friends anymore, hoping they keep it private since I know I will only end up disappointed in the end. The last time I had actually made slight changes to the .. release and could track who it was. That person was a RL friend even (not anymore).

The only comforting thing I can tell you is that you'll get over it. Hopefully you'll also be back.

Let me know if there's anything you need.

All this story is absurd

The words i agree much more are these ones from Galahad

"Shit happens sometimes, it's the life"

I would like to find right words to make DamienD change his idea, but first of all it's his decision, so i respect what he will do

And, especially, i see him much convinced to leave the forum

So, what i can say, like all other people who talked in this thread, is that i dislike it really much

Probably some guy you banned and gets back on you.
1. Since you asked a small donation you shouldn't give the pack away.
2. I wouldn't care about some guy that obviously wants to trigger emotional response from me, thus manipulate.
