68030 & Commodore Bridgeboard

Hey Guys

Just installed a bridgeboard into my A2000 with the intention of using a network card via the ISA Bus.

However I find that the Janus.library / PC Software is not happy with the 68030's Cache features.

Is a utility available to allow me to switch the Cache off & on on the fly.

Commodore do supply a utility called enforcer on the Janus Disk but it does not appear to work.

Get error "Cannot open Janus.library"

Thanks for your help....

TC

What WB version you are using? I don't remember if the CPU command is available on pre-2.1...

If so, just type "CPU nocache" and see what happens. Expect to see your Amiga crawling.

I'm using KS3.1 with OS3.5

Cheers rk, I'll try that now

TC

Update... Output window reports cache is off both Data & Inst.

But still getting the same error.
Bridgeboard works if I disable the accelerator & use 68000 mode but then the system really does crawl, which make networking pointless
Thanks for the tip though

Try also "CPU noinstburst noinstcache nofastROM" and a combination of the options.

I seem to have to remember running Enforcer (Latest version on Aminet I think) in order to get my Bridgeboards working in with the 030.

I have a 25 mHz 386 bridgeboard installed in my A2000. I was unable to get it working with OS 3.5 or higher. When I went back to a 3.1 install, I works perfectly.

Cheers rk & magic for the advice

Will try it out when I get home, will look for enforcer on aminet

In fairness the Readme notes on the install floppy state it does not like 020 /030 /040 but i know that some of our colleagues use the bridgeboard & NE2000 ISA NIC to network the Amiga OS...

Using 68000 would be

Any other tips welcome & will report back
Thx
TC

Update - Magic can you please confirm the version used & do I need to set any options or just run enforcer... Thx

This should do the trick. It is the one that I used with my A3000(T) and the A2386SX.
Enforcer Version 37.73 on Aminet

There are no special switches as I remember. Just run the install and try it. It will probably be executed from your startup-sequence so you might want "Quiet" or something.

Good Luck

Right guys,

Found my problem Zorro II 8MB limit.

Setting my GVP HD+8 to 2 MB & 4MB from my 030 accelerator & it all works with enforcer.

The Bridgeboard status even shows up as defective with the full 8MB allocated as RAM..

I knew this was the case with the 386 boards but 1 would have thought the 128K dual port RAM would have been mapped elsewhere, and why try & map the 512K from the 2088????
You can't use it????

Back to the drawing board then...

Thanks for all your suggestions & help rkauer & Magic
